Call or Text (352) 722-5295Intake horns and manifolds on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The 6.7L uses reverse-flow cylinder heads. The exhaust ports face into the valley, where the turbo sits, and the intake ports are on the outboard side of each head. Boost leaves the Garrett turbo in the valley, passes through the air-to-water charge air cooler, also in the valley, and travels through the plastic cold-side pipe into the intake manifold, which has to reach the intake ports on the outside of both heads. The intake air horn and manifold parts in this collection replace factory pieces on that last leg of the trip. For the rest of this engine, see our Powerstroke hub.
What fails and why
The documented trouble on this side of the engine shows up just upstream of the manifold. The factory plastic cold-side pipe that feeds it can break and leave you stranded, with a sudden loss of boost, a loud hiss and limp mode. The air-to-water charge air cooler can leak internally, which shows up as coolant loss, white steam or coolant in the cold-side pipe. An overdue CCV separator coats the intake tract with oil mist; the CCV is a service item every 30,000 to 40,000 miles. Any of those leaves evidence you can see when the intake side is open, so read what you find before you bolt new parts on.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If the manifold is off for a gasket or sensor job, a fresh set of gaskets puts it back the way Ford built it. If you are building the intake side along with an aluminum cold-side pipe or an aftermarket intercooler, an aftermarket manifold and piping kit is the next step. The SPE Motorsport OE+ Performance Intake Manifold Kit replaces the factory manifold, and SPE's intake piping kit covers the plumbing. Doing the pipe, the manifold and the gaskets in one visit means taking the same parts apart once. If your truck has to pass an emissions inspection, check each product page for its CARB EO status before you install.
What we carry
This collection is SPE Motorsport's intake-side work: the SPE Intake Piping Kit, listed for 2011-2026 6.7L Power Stroke, and the S100397 OE+ Performance Intake Manifold Kit, listed for 2011-2025. Both are catalogued here as high-flow kits. The gaskets and flanges that go with them are in the Accessories collection, including MAHLE MS19881 intake manifold gaskets, SPE S100314 gaskets and SPE billet intake flanges.
Fitment notes
Both kits are listed to cover 2017-2019. Ford revised the 6.7L for 2020 and many intake parts do not carry over between the two, so if you shop the rest of the site, read the year range on each listing instead of assuming a Super Duty part fits every year. Chassis cabs (F-350, F-450 and F-550) run a different turbo and a 330 hp calibration, and many parts differ from the pickups, so confirm fitment on cab-and-chassis trucks. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
What is an intake air horn on the 6.7L Powerstroke?
It is the intake-side plumbing that carries cooled boost from the cold-side pipe into the intake manifold. Because this engine's intake ports sit on the outboard side of each head, the air path runs out from the valley-mounted charge air cooler to reach them. This collection holds SPE's intake piping kit and intake manifold kit for that section.
Should I replace the cold-side pipe while the intake side is apart?
It is worth doing. The factory cold-side pipe is plastic and can break, leaving you with a loud hiss, lost boost and limp mode. Aluminum replacements are in the Intercooler and Piping collection, and the Mishimoto kit carries CARB EO D-759-4 covering 2017-2018.
I found oil or coolant in the intake. What does that mean?
Oil mist coating the intake tract points to an overdue CCV separator. Coolant in the cold-side pipe, along with coolant loss or white steam, points to an internal leak in the air-to-water charge air cooler. Fix the cause first so the new intake parts do not get the same treatment.
