The third-generation Super Duty was built from February 2010 to June 2016 on the 1999-design frame, which Ford said had the thickest-gauge steel frame in its class, and 2011 brought a new, bigger front fascia. The steel cab bolts to that frame through rubber body mounts. From the factory, the truck came with front and rear step bumpers, black box-top and tailgate moldings, cargo tie-downs (four in the 6.75-ft box, six in the 8-ft box), an integrated box lamp and a removable tailgate with assist. Trim packages changed the look more than the parts: XL Appearance, XLT Chrome, Lariat chrome grille and bumpers, King Ranch monochromatic and Platinum, with wheel-well liners on single-rear-wheel trucks and body-color flares on the F-450.
What fails and why
Our research did not turn up a body-mount or sheet-metal failure pattern specific to 2015-2016 trucks, so we won't invent one. The exterior item worth checking is a recall. Campaign 16V246 covers tires installed at assembly on some 2016 F-250s that may have inner-sidewall damage, which can show up as air loss or a rupture. The campaign began May 23, 2016. If you own a 2016 F-250 and don't know whether the work was done, run your VIN through Ford or NHTSA.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
Most of this page is about changing the truck, not repairing it. A urethane roll pan takes the place of the factory rear step bumper for a cleaner rear end, and once that bumper is off, the license plate needs a new home, which is what the plate brackets are for. Sled stops clamp on below or behind the roll pan for trucks set up to pull a sled. Body mounts are the one true replacement part here. Ford used rubber; the aftermarket kits offer other designs, such as the silicone mounts in the S&B kits. Choose a body mount kit by cab style first, then by the design you prefer.

Fitment notes
Exterior parts for these trucks are 2011-2016 fitment; the 2017 aluminum body is a different truck. Many parts here list 2008-2016 because they also fit the 6.4L trucks. Dual-rear-wheel fenders and F-450 flares differ from single-rear-wheel trucks. The 2015-2016 pickups came as Regular Cab, SuperCab or Crew Cab with a 6.75-ft or 8-ft box, and body mount kits are catalogued by body and cab style, so match the cab in the title to yours. When in doubt, verify by VIN or call us.
Frequently asked questions
Did Ford change the body for 2015?
No. 2015 was a powertrain refresh: the 6.7L went to 440 hp and 860 lb-ft with a new Garrett GT3788V turbo, but the sheet metal carried over. Exterior parts for these trucks are catalogued 2011-2016.
Will exterior parts from a 2017 Super Duty fit my 2016?
Generally no. The 2017 truck moved to an aluminum body, so exterior parts split at 2016. Stick to parts listed for 2011-2016 or 2008-2016, and use the fitment checker on the product page.
Which S&B body mount kit do I need?
It depends on your cab. The S&B 81-1002 is listed for Regular Cab and extended cab trucks, and the 81-1003 is listed for the Crew Cab. Both are silicone kits listed for 2008-2016 6.4L and 6.7L Powerstroke trucks.
Is there a known body mount problem on these trucks?
Not one our research could pin to 2015-2016 trucks. The factory uses rubber mounts between the steel cab and the frame. If you're replacing yours, pick a kit that matches your cab, and we can handle the install in our Wildwood, FL shop.
