2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Cold Air Intakes

Cold air intakes and intake kits for the 2015-2016 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke. The key fact for this page: even though Ford changed the turbo for 2015, the S&B 75-5104 intake is catalogued for 2011-2016 and fits these trucks unchanged, with a CARB EO that covers the F-250 and F-350.

Intakes on the 2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

For 2015 the 6.7L Powerstroke got its mid-cycle refresh: a larger Garrett GT3788V variable-geometry turbo replaced the 2011-2014 DualBoost unit, new injector nozzles went in, and output rose to 440 hp and 860 lb-ft. The air path in front of the turbo kept the same layout. Air comes through an enclosed factory airbox with a two-piece filter, a Motorcraft FA-1909 pre-filter and FA-1902 element, and runs to the turbo in the valley. An aftermarket intake replaces that airbox and tube.

What goes wrong around the intake

The documented issues near the intake are the long factory filter interval and, downstream of the turbo, the plastic boost tubes. Ford calls for the filter at 45,000 miles or as required, more often in dust, and a restricted filter shows up as soot in the airbox and MAF-related codes. The plastic tubes crack and pull loose with heat and age, causing sudden power loss and codes like P0299. If you are shopping intakes because the truck feels down on power, rule out a boost leak first.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

If the truck is stock and the filter is due, a new factory-style filter set is all you need. If you want more airflow, the S&B 75-5104 is a well-documented choice. It uses an enclosed box and is rated at 31.7 percent more airflow than stock with the oiled cotton filter (99.26 percent efficient) or 29.8 percent with the dry filter (99.66 percent). It carries CARB EO D-590-13 for the F-250 and F-350. A MAP sensor spacer kit and a spare KF-1050 filter are common add-ons for an S&B-equipped truck.

What we carry

S&B has the 75-5104 cold air intake. No Limit Fabrication offers its 67CAI1 Stage 1 and 67CAI Stage 2 cold air intakes for 2011-2016, Banks Power has the 42215 Ram-Air cold air intake for 2011-2016, and SPE Motorsport has an air intake system listed for 2011-2019 plus the S100397 OE+ performance intake manifold kit. PPE has the Zilla intake manifold and turbo inlet kit, listed specifically for 2015-2016, and a MAP sensor relocation spacer. For other trucks, browse our full intakes collection.

Fitment notes

The S&B 75-5104 EO covers the F-250 and F-350 only; F-450 and F-550 trucks have no EO on that part. Chassis cab trucks also run a different turbo (Garrett AVNT3276V) than the pickups, so confirm the listing names your truck. For every other intake, look for a CARB EO number on the product page if your truck is registered where emissions equipment is inspected; an EO is the proof that a part is emissions-legal in all 50 states. Many parts change for 2017 and newer Super Duty trucks. Verify by VIN when in doubt.

Frequently asked questions

Will a 2011-2014 cold air intake fit my 2015 or 2016?

The S&B 75-5104 is catalogued for 2011-2016 and fits 2015-2016 unchanged despite the 2015 turbo change. Other intakes here list their own year ranges, so read each listing. Many parts built for 2017 and newer trucks are different, so check the years before you order.

Is the S&B intake emissions-legal on my F-450?

The S&B 75-5104 carries CARB EO D-590-13 for the F-250 and F-350 only. That EO does not cover F-450 or F-550 trucks. If your F-450 is registered where emissions equipment is inspected, choose a part whose EO lists your truck.

Do I need anything else when I install an intake?

A MAP sensor spacer kit is a common add-on for 6.7L trucks with an S&B intake, and a spare KF-1050 filter in oiled cotton or dry media keeps service simple. Read the install instructions for your intake to see what it calls for.
