The S&B 75-5104 is a bolt-on cold air intake for 2011-2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks with the 6.7L Power Stroke. It replaces the factory airbox and two-piece filter with a fully enclosed box, a large filter and a straighter tube to the turbo, and S&B rates it at 31.70% more airflow than stock.

Fitment

Built for 2011-2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups with the 6.7L Power Stroke (more Power Stroke parts). Ford changed the turbo for 2015, but S&B catalogs this intake across the full 2011-2016 run, so one part number covers both halves. 2017-and-newer trucks use different parts and are not covered here; for 2020-2026 trucks S&B makes the 75-5140.

This intake carries CARB EO# D-590-13, and that EO covers the F-250 and F-350 only. F-450 and F-550 trucks have no EO for this intake. If your truck is registered in California or another state that follows CARB rules, that matters, so call us before ordering for an F-450 or F-550. For any truck, verify fitment by VIN or call the shop.

Why this part

From the factory, the 6.7L pulls air through a fender-fed airbox with a two-piece filter: a pre-filter (Motorcraft FA-1909) and an element (FA-1902). Ford calls for air filter service at 45,000 miles or as required, and dusty use means checking it more often. The S&B kit replaces that setup with a cleanable and reusable filter, so on the cleanable version a service is a wash and reinstall rather than two new filters.

The bigger reason is restriction. S&B engineered this intake to minimize it. The intake tube has minimal bends and runs in one clean line from the intake box and air filter to the turbo inlet with minimum obstructions, and the redesigned airbox is fully enclosed so it protects the filter from dirt and keeps engine heat out. With the oiled cotton filter S&B measured 31.70% better airflow than the stock intake system at 99.26% efficiency. With the dry filter S&B lists 29.8% more airflow at 99.66% efficiency.

If you are chasing lost power rather than adding airflow, rule out boost leaks first. The factory plastic cold-side intercooler pipe on this engine is known to crack, split or blow apart under boost and heat cycling, and leaks at boots and couplers cause low power with no codes. A smoke test finds them, and an intake will not fix either one. Compare this kit with the rest of our diesel intakes.

Installation notes

It is a bolt-on replacement for the factory intake. The snap-in lid needs no screws to secure it to the box, and you can install or remove the filter without removing the intake tube, which makes the install and every later inspection quick. The silicone edge trim gives the lid an airtight seal against power-robbing engine heat.

Set your airflow with the included silicone box plug:

  • Plug Removed: this configuration provides an extra air inlet that pulls from the passenger side fender area.
  • Plug Installed: this configuration seals the secondary air inlet on the side of the box facing the vehicle fender. The front-facing grill inlet and the front scoop become the main source of airflow into the intake box.

S&B's installation tech tip: the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is mounted in the intake tube on the air intake system, and you will need to remove it during the install. Replacing a good working MAF sensor is not required, but it is good practice to inspect, clean or replace it while it is out. The injection-molded MAF plate and foam MAF sensor gasket give the sensor a true OE seal, which is how S&B lets the engine run properly on the stock calibration or with enhanced tuning and avoid check engine lights.

About S&B

S&B Filters traces its roots to 1975 and is based in Fontana, California. Cold air intakes are the core of its diesel line, with kits for 7.3L through 6.7L Powerstroke trucks plus Cummins, Duramax and the 3.0L EcoDiesel, each offered with a cotton cleanable or a dry filter. We stock S&B because the part numbers match cleanly to a year, engine and cab.

Frequently asked questions

Will this intake set a check engine light?

S&B designed it not to. The injection-molded MAF plate and foam gasket give the stock MAF sensor a true OE seal, and no check engine lights is on S&B's own feature list for this kit.

Does it fit a 2015 or 2016 with the newer turbo?

Yes. Ford changed the turbo for 2015, but S&B catalogs the 75-5104 for all 2011-2016 6.7L F-250 and F-350 trucks. If a 2011-2014 truck has had a later turbo swapped in, tell us what is in it when you call.

Oiled or dry filter?

S&B lists the oiled cotton filter at 31.7% more airflow than stock and 99.26% efficiency, and the dry filter at 29.8% more airflow and 99.66% efficiency. The oiled filter flows a little more; the dry filter catches a little more dust.
