Tuning accessories for the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

A custom calibration needs a way onto the truck and, if it has more than one position, a way to choose between them. The HP Tuners MPVI4 is the interface that links a laptop to the 6.7L Power Stroke through the OBD-II port. The RTD4 here is a Southern Diesel Supply Edition of HP Tuners' remote tuning device. The SPE 5-position switch is the selector. Whatever gets loaded, a street calibration has to work with the factory DPF, SCR/DEF and EGR equipment in place and functioning.

Plan for what the tune will stress

Accessories do not add power, but the calibration they carry can. On 2011-2014 trucks, tuning that adds power or delays converter lock-up overworks the 6R140's single-friction torque converter and raises trans temps. Aggressive files also push the GT32 SST toward overspeed. The standard advice is to pair any tune with CP4 protection, charge-pipe upgrades and transmission cooling.

What we carry

From HP Tuners: the MPVI4 and the RTD4 Southern Diesel Supply Edition. From SPE Motorsport: the 5-position plug-and-play SOFT switch for 2011-2019 6.7L PowerStroke trucks, and a 5-position switch bracket that fits 1999-2022 7.3L, 6.0L, 6.4L and 6.7L PowerStroke trucks. More programmers and modules are on the tuners page.

Fitment notes

The SOFT switch is listed for 2011-2019 6.7L trucks only, while the bracket covers Power Stroke engines back to the 7.3L, so confirm it suits your cab layout. Your calibration still has to match your year group, because 2015-2016 trucks run different turbo, injector and pump hardware. Verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need both the MPVI4 and the RTD4?

Not always. The MPVI4 is built for working from a laptop, while the RTD4 is HP Tuners' remote tuning device. Which one you need depends on how your calibration will be delivered and loaded, so call the shop before you order if you are not sure.

Does the SPE switch fit a 2014 F-350?

Yes, by year and engine. The SPE plug-and-play SOFT switch is listed for 2011-2019 6.7L PowerStroke trucks, so a 2014 F-250 or F-350 is in range. It only does something if your calibration has positions to switch between, and SPE's 5-position bracket gives it a mount.

Will a switch or interface change how my truck runs?

Not by itself. These parts carry or select a calibration; the calibration is what changes how the truck drives. Plan the supporting work, CP4 protection, charge pipes and transmission cooling, around the tune you intend to run.
