2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Fuel Lines

High-pressure injection lines, supply lines, return fittings and contamination kits for the 2011-2014 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke. The rule on this engine is simple: high-pressure fuel lines are one-time-use. Any line you open gets replaced, and after a CP4.2 failure every high-pressure line on the engine gets replaced.

Fuel lines on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The 6.7L Powerstroke has two sides to its plumbing. On the low-pressure side, fuel runs from the in-tank sender to the electric pump in the frame-mounted DFCM, through the 4-micron engine-mounted filter and into the Bosch CP4.2. On the high-pressure side, lines carry fuel from the CP4.2 to two common rails at roughly 30,000 psi, and from the rails to the eight piezo injectors. There is also an injector return circuit, and metal from a failed pump reaches it too.

What fails and why

On this engine, line replacement usually rides along with a bigger job. A CP4.2 that wears from aerated or low-lubricity fuel sheds metal into the high-pressure side, and the fix reaches all the high-pressure lines along with the pump, both rails and the injectors, plus a cleaning of the tank and low-pressure lines. Any injector or rail job means new lines too, because a line that has been opened cannot go back on. On the supply side, an air leak or excessive injector return can set P0087 low rail pressure and look like a pump problem, so check the low side before you condemn anything. Aerated fuel is also one of the conditions that wears the CP4.2.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

For a stock truck, replace like for like. Injection line and O-ring kits, injector line sets and the rail supply line restore factory plumbing, and the pump install kit supplies the pieces a CP4.2 swap calls for. After a pump failure, a fuel contamination kit, with or without the pump, is built for the wider cleanup. Upgraded and custom setups are a different job. Universal oversized high-pressure injection lines in multiple lengths, M14 and M12 fittings, tees, rail caps and -6AN or -8AN high-flow CP3 supply fittings are for builds that change pumps or add one. Verify CARB EO status on any alternate-pump conversion before you build one on a truck registered in an emissions-controlled state.

What we carry

From Alliant Power: AP0087 and AP0088 injection line and O-ring kits, the AP0157 fuel injection pump installation kit, and AP57000 and AP57000NP fuel contamination kits. From XDP: XD514 and XD611 contamination kits, with and without the pump. The MAHLE GS33712 fuel rail supply line and the BD Diesel 1050165 fuel injector line set. The Fleece Performance Engineering FPE-FMC-FF-RLK-1116 injector return line repair fitting. Dynomite Diesel Products universal high-pressure oversized injection lines, and Exergy Performance fittings, including the M14x1.5 three-way tee, the M14x1.5 plug and nut rail cap, and M12x1.5 to -6AN and -8AN high-flow CP3 supply fittings.

Fitment notes

Read the year range on each listing. The Alliant Power AP0157 install kit and the contamination kits are listed for 2011-2014, the Alliant line kits and MAHLE supply line for 2011-2019, the Fleece return fitting for 2011-2016, and the BD line set for 2011-2021. Dynomite's universal lines come in multiple lengths, so measure before you order. Plan on a new high-pressure line for every line you disturb. Confirm your truck by VIN when in doubt.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reuse a high-pressure fuel line after I remove it?

No. On the 2011-2014 6.7L the high-pressure lines are one-time-use and must be replaced any time they are opened. Plan for new lines on any injector, rail or pump job.

Which lines need replacing after a CP4.2 failure?

All of the high-pressure lines, from the pump to the rails and from the rails to the injectors. The same repair covers the pump, both rails and the injectors, and the tank and low-pressure lines get cleaned. The Alliant Power and XDP contamination kits are built for that cleanup.

Can a leak on the supply side cause low rail pressure?

Yes. Air leaks and weak low-side supply are both on the list of things that can set P0087, along with restricted filters, electrical faults and excessive injector return. Test low-side pressure and inspect the filter before you blame the CP4.2. Aerated fuel is also hard on the pump, so fix a supply leak promptly.
