Call or Text (352) 722-5295The downpipe on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The 6.7L Powerstroke puts its turbo in the engine valley, fed by short up-pipes from the valley-mounted exhaust manifolds. On 2011-2014 pickups that turbo is the Garrett GT32 SST DualBoost. The downpipe picks up exhaust at the turbo outlet and carries it to the aftertreatment stack: the diesel oxidation catalyst, the diesel particulate filter and SCR with DEF injection. Ford built it as a two-piece 4 in pipe, and V-band clamps hold the joints. Everything downstream of the downpipe stays the same whichever pipe you run.
Why owners shop for a downpipe
There are two good reasons to be on this page. The first is a leak. Boost and exhaust leaks are among the causes of frequent DPF regens and derates on the 6.7L, so a loose or damaged clamp at a downpipe joint is worth fixing rather than living with. The second is a turbo change. For 2015, Ford replaced the GT32 with a larger single-compressor GT37, and the downpipe, up-pipes and passenger manifold changed along with it. Retrofit kits that put the 2015-style GT37 on a 2011-2014 truck require the 2015-2019 two-piece 4 in downpipe, the 2015 up-pipes and the 2015 manifold.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If the pipe itself is sound and only a joint leaks, start with the clamp. Mahle's B33486 is the 3 in downpipe V-band clamp listed for 2011-2014, and B33485 is the 2.5 in clamp listed for 2011-2022. If the pipe is damaged or you want a different construction, an aftermarket downpipe connects the same two points as the factory part: the turbo outlet and the front of the aftertreatment. Pick the one that matches your turbo, and keep every piece of aftertreatment in place behind it.
What we carry
SPE Motorsport makes the S100371 two-piece downpipe, listed for 2011-2019 6.7L trucks. MBRP offers its Armor Lite / Pro 4 in turbo downpipe, listed for 2008-2016 6.4L and 6.7L Power Stroke trucks; check the product page for the version that matches your turbo. Mahle supplies the factory-style V-band clamps in 3 in and 2.5 in. For tailpipes, mufflers and tips, browse the full exhaust category.
Fitment notes
Go by turbo first, then model year. A stock 2011-2014 pickup has the GT32 SST and takes the 2011-2014 downpipe. A 2011-2014 retrofitted with a GT37 takes the 2015-2019 downpipe along with 2015-2016 up-pipes and passenger manifold. Chassis cabs (F-350, F-450 and F-550) used a Garrett AVNT3276V through 2016, so their exhaust parts can differ from pickups. Where a listing spans a wide range such as 2008-2016 or 2011-2019, read the description for version notes. If your truck is registered in California or another state that follows CARB rules, check the emissions status on the product page. Verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Which downpipe does my 2011-2014 need if it has a GT37 turbo?
The 2015-2019 style. GT37 retrofit kits require the 2015-2019 two-piece 4 in downpipe along with the 2015 up-pipes and manifold. Tell us which turbo is on the truck when you call and we will match the pipe.
Where does the downpipe sit relative to the DPF?
Ahead of it. The downpipe runs from the turbo outlet to the aftertreatment, and the DOC, DPF and SCR all sit downstream. Replacing the downpipe leaves all three in place.
Can a downpipe leak cause frequent regens?
It can contribute. Boost and exhaust leaks are among the causes of frequent DPF regens and derates on the 6.7L, along with short trips, extended idling and sensor faults. If regen messages are piling up, check the downpipe clamps along with the rest of the system.
