Oil filters on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The 6.7L Powerstroke feeds a lot of hardware from one sump: a pushrod valve train, a turbo in the engine valley and a block-mounted oil cooler. Ford specifies API CJ-4 oil meeting WSS-M2C171-F1, with synthetic recommended, and the filter gets changed with the oil at every service. Pick a filter that's listed for your truck and stick to the interval that matches how you drive.

What to watch for

There's no filter-specific failure on this engine to warn you about; the thing to watch is the oil. During active DPF regeneration the engine uses post-injection, and some of that fuel ends up in the crankcase. Trucks that idle a lot or run short trips get it worst. If the dipstick level is climbing or the oil smells like diesel, change the oil and filter early. Sticking to highway driving and cutting idle time reduces it.

What we carry

MAHLE OC1662 is a replacement engine oil filter listed for 2011-2025 6.7L Powerstroke trucks. PPE 314000767 MicroPure XR is an aftermarket engine oil filter listed for 2011-2025 Powerstroke trucks. SPE Motorsport also offers an oil filter housing; its title calls out the F-650 and F-750 with the 6.7L, so confirm on the product page that it fits your pickup before you order.

Fitment notes

Both filters cover the full 2011-2014 range, so model year isn't the issue. Use the fitment checker on the product page or verify by VIN, and buy enough for your interval: on the 5,000-mile severe schedule, a truck goes through twice as many filters a year as one on the 10,000-mile schedule.

Frequently asked questions

What oil filter fits a 2011-2014 6.7L Powerstroke?

Ford's part number is the Motorcraft FL-2051S. The MAHLE OC1662 and PPE MicroPure XR on this page are listed for the 2011-2014 6.7L; run your VIN through the fitment checker on the product page to confirm.

How often should I change the oil filter on my 6.7L?

Every oil change: 10,000 miles under Ford's normal schedule or 5,000 under severe service. If the oil level is climbing or you smell fuel on the dipstick, don't wait for the interval.
