2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Rear Differential Covers

Rear differential covers, cover gaskets and drain hardware for 2011-2014 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups with the 6.7L Powerstroke. Count your rear wheels before you shop. Single-rear-wheel trucks use the Sterling 10.5 with a 12-bolt cover, while F-350 duallies and 2011-2014 F-450 pickups use a Dana 80, and those covers are not interchangeable.

Rear axles on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The 6.7L Powerstroke pickups in this range use two rear axles. F-250 and SRW F-350 trucks get the Sterling 10.5-inch, 35-spline axle in conventional, limited-slip or electronic-locker form. F-350 duallies and 2011-2014 F-450 pickups get the Dana 80. For 2015 the F-450 pickup moved to a Dana S110, and F-450 chassis cabs used the S110 all along, so the Dana 80 parts here are for pickups in this year range. Whatever cover you run, the fluid behind it matters most: rear gear oil is due every 100,000 miles normal or 50,000 miles severe, and neglect is the main cause of Sterling wear on towing trucks.

What we carry

  • Sterling 10.25/10.5 12-bolt covers: PPE heavy-duty cast aluminum, Mag-Hytec F12-10.25 and 10.5, SPE Motorsport (SRW) and BD Diesel 1061830 (SRW Super Duty).
  • Dana 80 cover: Mag-Hytec 80, listed for the F-350.
  • Also listed: the AFE 46-70022 Street Series differential cover.
  • Gaskets: MAHLE P32716 rear cover gasket, plus P18562, P38163TC and P38155TC cover gaskets.
  • Hardware: ATS Diesel Performance 402-009-1000 drain plug for ATS pans and covers.

Stock cover or aftermarket?

A sound factory cover with a new MAHLE gasket is a complete reseal. Move to an aftermarket cover when the factory one is damaged, or when you want a heavy-duty cast aluminum cover on a truck that works hard. Whichever you choose, refill with 75W-140 synthetic, the rear grade published service data lists.

Fitment notes

Read every listing for its axle. The MAHLE gaskets each name their own applications, so match the gasket to your axle and cover, and check whether your new cover already includes one. The SPE Motorsport and BD Diesel covers are listed for SRW trucks. Confirm the axle by VIN before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Which rear cover fits an F-350 dually?

A dually F-350 uses the Dana 80, so it needs a Dana 80 cover such as the Mag-Hytec 80. The Sterling 12-bolt covers on this page are for F-250 and single-rear-wheel F-350 trucks.

Do I need a separate gasket with an aftermarket cover?

Check the listing for what comes in the box. If the cover does not include a gasket, or you are resealing the factory cover, pick the MAHLE gasket that matches your axle. Call us if you cannot tell which one you need.

Should I change the gear oil while the cover is off?

You will be refilling it anyway, since pulling the cover drains the axle. Published service data lists 75W-140 synthetic for the rear, about 3.3 to 3.6 quarts, though capacity varies by axle.
