Turbo accessories for the 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Powerstroke

The 6.4L Powerstroke runs a BorgWarner V2S compound pair, with a 65 mm low-pressure turbo feeding a 52 mm variable-geometry high-pressure turbo. Two turbos in series means more joints to seal, and each gasket, boot and clamp is a place for boost or exhaust to escape. The parts here are the hardware that holds the system together, the gear that tells you whether it's sealed, and the heat protection around it.

Why the small parts matter

Charge-air leaks at boots, clamps and intercooler connections are a known 6.4L problem. They show up as low boost, smoke, sluggish throttle and P0299 codes, which are the same complaints people blame on the turbos. Testing comes first: smoke-test the whole charge system and compare commanded and actual boost before you condemn a turbo. When turbos do get replaced, the job goes better with fresh gaskets and clean oil feed lines, followed by a 60-second idle break-in.

• Turbo replacement: the Alliant Power AP63482 turbo installation kit and the BD Diesel 179618 HP/LP turbo install kit, plus the MAHLE GS33566 mounting gasket set, the GS33566A master set and the F32789 turbo-to-downpipe gasket, all listed for 2008-2010 6.4L trucks.
• Clamps: Turbosmart constant tension clamps (1.625-2.375), BD Diesel high-torque hose clamps, the BD Diesel 1453602 full Marmon V-band clamp and the BD Diesel 1405926 exhaust V-band clamp.

Fitment notes

Only some of these parts are truck-specific. The install kits, the MAHLE GS33566 and GS33566A sets and the F32789 gasket are listed for 2008-2010 6.4L trucks, and the 6.4L turbo assembly itself fits only 2008-2010 6.4L engines. The T4 and T6 blankets, the flange gaskets and the drain fitting are sized by flange, the clamps by diameter, and the Calibrated Power inlet adapter is listed for S-series turbos, so confirm what's on your engine before you order. When in doubt, verify by VIN and call us.

Go by flange where the blanket names one. PPE's titanium woven blankets come in T4 and T6 versions, the ATS 202-104-1000 is a T4 blanket, and Mishimoto offers the MMHP-TB titanium blanket.
