2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke Oil Pans

Oil pans, pan gaskets, pan bolt kits and drain plugs for the 2003-2007 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty with the 6.0L Powerstroke. The pan holds the oil that both lubricates this engine and fires its injectors, so when it comes off, put it back with the right gasket for your joint and engine year.

Oil pans on the 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke

The 6.0L sump feeds a crank-driven gerotor pump in the front cover with a relief valve near 75 psi. That pump supplies the bearings and the high-pressure oil pump that runs the injectors, and the system holds 15 quarts with the filter. The pan is built in an upper and a lower section, and for the 2004 model year Ford strengthened the upper oil pan as part of the same update that brought a new piston bowl and shorter glow plugs. That is why the gasket listings are split by position and some by year.

Why the pan comes off

Most of what is here is service hardware rather than a fix for one specific failure: a gasket for any job that opens the pan, a bolt kit so it goes back together right, a replacement pan if yours is damaged, and a magnetic drain plug for oil changes. Bottom-end work such as pistons and rings also means pulling the pan, so order the gaskets with the rest of that job.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

For a straight replacement, the Dorman 264-046 engine oil pan is listed for 2003-2010 6.0L and 6.4L engines, and MAHLE supplies the gaskets: the OS32595 side-rail gasket and OS32473 lower gasket, both listed 2003-2010, and the OS32271 pan gasket listed 2003-2007. The XDP XD505 pan bolt kit comes in a black-phosphate finish. For drain plugs, the Mishimoto MMODP-14125B magnetic plug is listed for 1994-2010 7.3L, 6.0L and 6.4L engines, and its magnet holds fine steel particles where you can see them at each change. The ATS Diesel Performance 402-009-1000 is a replacement drain plug for ATS pans and differential covers, so it is for owners who already run one of those ATS parts.

Fitment notes

Match the gasket to the joint you are opening and to your engine year, since Ford changed the upper pan for 2004. The 6.0L stayed in E-Series vans through 2010, and several listings here run to 2010 or also name the 6.4L; the title tells you what the maker covers. Early-2003 Super Dutys still had the 7.3L, so confirm your engine first; the Mishimoto plug also lists the 7.3L. More 6.0L parts are on the Powerstroke hub. When in doubt, verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Which MAHLE oil pan gasket do I need for my 6.0L?

It depends on the joint. The OS32595 seals the side rails and the OS32473 seals the lower pan, both listed for 2003-2010, while the OS32271 is listed for 2003-2007. If you are not sure which joint is leaking or which design your engine has, call us with your VIN before you order.

Will the ATS drain plug fit my factory oil pan?

It is listed to fit ATS pans and differential covers, so treat it as a replacement for those parts. For the factory 6.0L pan, look at the Mishimoto MMODP-14125B magnetic plug, which is listed for 1994-2010 Powerstroke engines.

Is a magnetic drain plug worth it on a 6.0L?

It is a small part that tells you something at every oil change. The magnet holds fine steel particles so you can see them when the plug comes out, which matters on an engine where the same oil feeds the injectors. Pair it with Ford's 5,000-mile severe-service interval.
