The SPE Motorsport S100119 Low Temp, High Flow Thermostat replaces the factory thermostat on 2011-2024 Ford Super Duty trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke. It opens at 175/180°F instead of the stock 194/201°F. Owners buy it to bring down coolant and oil temperatures during normal driving and towing.

Why this part
Seeing oil temperatures run higher than you like during normal driving or towing? The thermostat is a simple place to start. The factory thermostat opens at 194/201°F. SPE's Low Temp, High Flow Thermostat opens at 175/180°F, a 19-21 degree difference. SPE engineered it after extensive testing on the 6.7L Powerstroke and reports temperature drops of up to 30°F.
SPE built it as a straightforward answer to high fluid temps. Their view is that the other options on the market for controlling coolant, oil and transmission temperatures either cost too much or don't actually solve a simple problem. On 2017-2019 trucks, SPE also lists lower transmission temperatures.
One thing to check before you blame the thermostat. On the 6.7L, overheating under tow is usually an airflow and heat rejection problem: a plugged cooling stack, a dirty radiator or intercooler, a stuck fan clutch or charge-air leaks. The fan clutch can stick or bind without setting a code, so it gets diagnosed by comparing actual and desired fan speed on a scan tool. A lower-temp thermostat won't fix any of those.

How long does it take to install?
SPE rates it as a 15 minute installation on the 6.7L Powerstroke.
Does this replace the secondary loop thermostats too?
No. The 6.7L runs two cooling loops with their own thermostats, and parts don't interchange between them. This one takes the place of the factory thermostat that opens at 194/201°F.
Will it lower my transmission temperature?
SPE claims the transmission temperature drop for 2017-2019 models only. For the other years it fits, SPE's listed benefits are lower coolant and oil temperatures.
