This pipe fits the 6.7L Powerstroke in Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups and F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks from 2011 through 2025. That spans the first-generation 6.7L (2011-2016) and the second-generation 6.7L (2017-2025). SPE lists it in three year groups:

Why this part

The factory cold side is a known weak point on this engine. On 2011-2016 trucks it is a plastic intercooler pipe, and on 2017-2025 trucks it is a rubber hose. Both are known to explode or burst under high boost and increased heat and load. SPE has known about this problem for many years and offers more than one fix. The XD is the strongest of them.

SPE calls the XD an industry first for the 6.7 Powerstroke: a full-length hard pipe without a 90-degree boot connecting to the intercooler. It is designed as a factory replacement, but it avoids the downfalls of other cold side pipes on the market. Every hose connection is straight, with no silicone couplers with bends. At the intercooler outlet SPE uses a cobra head to retain maximum flow and volume, a shape SPE says is only possible with a cast design. This is a must for trucks that are worked extremely hard at max capacity.

Do I need a tune to run the XD cold side pipe?

No. SPE designed it to work with factory and tuned trucks, and no tuning is required.

What are the reference ports for?

The integrated ports let you read boost reference or run an injectable without drilling the pipe. SPE includes plugs in the kit along with the T bolts and O ring.

Why pick the XD over replacing just the factory hose?

A replacement hose only swaps the coupler. The XD replaces the whole cold side with a cast hard pipe, straight 5-ply silicone boots, a billet throttle body adapter and built-in reference ports. SPE built it for trucks worked extremely hard at max capacity. If you only want a stronger coupler on a 2017-2025 truck, SPE also offers a cold side replacement hose.
