The S&B KF-1081 is a cleanable replacement filter for the S&B cold air intake on 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 6.6L L5P Duramax. It pairs 8-ply cotton media with silicone construction that stands up to engine heat. You buy it to restore airflow and filtration without replacing the intake.
Fitment
Fits 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD with the 6.6L L5P Duramax, including 3500HD single- and dual-rear-wheel trucks. The L5P was an option on these trucks, so make sure yours has the diesel. This is a filter for an S&B intake; it does not replace the factory airbox filter.
S&B lists the KF-1081 for 2017-2019 trucks. GM changed the hood, scoop and airbox for the 2020 trucks, which makes L5P intake kits and airboxes year-specific. If you have a 2020 or newer L5P, verify fitment by VIN or call us before you order.
Why this part
S&B's L5P intake keeps the factory hood-scoop duct, so the water separator path in that duct stays in place. An intake that drops the duct loses it. When the filter in your S&B intake is worn or loaded up, the KF-1081 is the replacement that keeps that setup working as designed.
Heat is the other reason to pick this filter. Silicone construction means it will not break down from engine heat the way a regular rubber filter will. The full round entrance radius gives air a smooth transition into the filter and allows a larger filter with more surface area, which improves airflow and filtration. The 8-ply cotton media is cleanable, and the filter is ISO 5011 filtration tested.
