The S&B 10-1004 is a 60-gallon replacement fuel tank for 2017-2024 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty crew cab short bed trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke. It takes the place of the factory 34-gallon tank with no cutting or drilling. The reason to buy it is simple: it almost doubles your range between fill-ups.
Fitment
Built for 2017-2024 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty crew cab short bed (CCSB) trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke. S&B's own fitment line reads "Fits: 2017-2025 F-250/350," while this listing covers 2017-2024, so verify fitment by VIN before you order, especially on a 2025 truck.
2023+ High Output trucks: if you purchased this tank prior to 1/1/2024, it won't fit 2023+ High Output models. S&B made a revision to the tank to accommodate the fuel line going to the DPF on those trucks. If you have an older tank on the shelf and a High Output truck, call us before you install it.
Auxiliary tanks: do you have an auxiliary fuel tank? Using one with the S&B tank will void the Lifetime Warranty.

Why this part
The factory tank on these trucks holds 34 gallons. The S&B tank holds approximately 60 gallons, which almost doubles your range. S&B says that is 5 more gallons than competitor tanks. More fuel on board means fewer stops and more miles between fill-ups.
The reserve is better too. The float's empty position in the S&B tank is the same as in the OEM tank, but the bottom surface area of the S&B tank is larger. That means the 60-gallon tank carries a greater fuel reserve at the same empty reading.
It also works with lift pumps. S&B tanks work with OEM and aftermarket lift pumps. Aftermarket lift pumps like FASS and AirDog provide more fuel to your diesel engine, but they face issues at a 1/4 tank fuel level. The S&B sending unit allows you to drive to empty with your aftermarket lift pump. It is plug and play, with no need to modify your OEM tank or sending unit.

Installation notes
The tank goes in without any cutting, drilling or special modifications, which makes for a faster install. If your truck already has a factory skid plate, the S&B tank is designed so you can reuse it, which S&B says competitor tanks do not allow. If you don't have one, no problem. S&B also designed a smaller, factory-style skid plate to cover the front of the larger tank.
Check your build date first. According to Ford TSB 17-0046, if your truck has a build date prior to 3-20-17, replace the fuel level sender resistor card assembly with Ford part # HC3Z-9A299-N.
Distance to Empty: S&B offers a free service to update the computer in your truck so the Distance to Empty (DTE) displays the accurate range. This works for 2011-2022 Ford trucks. There is no 2023+ calibration at this time.
At the pump: the nozzle at high-flow fuel stations (truck stops) will not be able to fill automatically, so plan to stay on the handle at those pumps.

Will my fuel gauge and Distance to Empty read right?
The float's empty position matches the OEM tank, so the gauge reads empty at the same point, with more reserve left in the bigger tank. For the DTE display, S&B offers a free calibration update on 2011-2022 Ford trucks. There is no 2023+ calibration at this time.
Does it fit a 2023 or newer High Output truck?
Tanks purchased prior to 1/1/2024 won't fit 2023+ High Output models, because S&B later revised the tank to accommodate the fuel line going to the DPF. Send us your VIN and we will confirm fitment before you order.
Can I run an aftermarket lift pump or an auxiliary tank with it?
An aftermarket lift pump is fine. S&B tanks work with OEM pumps and with pumps like FASS and AirDog, and the S&B sending unit lets you drive to empty. An auxiliary fuel tank is a different story: using one with the S&B tank voids the Lifetime Warranty.
