The PPE 114000740 MicroPure XR is a 5-micron engine oil filter for the 6.6L L5P Duramax in 2020-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks. It goes on in place of the PF26 or PF63 with 330 square inches of synthetic microfiber media, a sealed bypass valve and a built-in magnet.

Fitment

Fits the 6.6L L5P Duramax in Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD pickups, 2020-2025. PPE notes that the 2020-2023 trucks used the AC Delco PF26 and that the Duramax moved to the PF63 for 2024; this filter replaces either one.

PPE's comparison notes list the 114000740 as compatible with 2020-2024 Duramax trucks. We list it through 2025, so on a 2025, verify fitment by VIN or call us. It does not fit 2017-2019 L5P trucks. Those use the PF2232-size filter, which does not interchange with the 2020-and-newer filter; PPE 114000555 is the one for them.

Why this part

The oil filter is the engine's first line of defense against contaminants that degrade the oil and shorten its life, and dirt that gets past a poor filter wears engine internals and can lead to their failure. PPE's case against the OEM filter on the 2020-and-newer L5P: 259 square inches of 25-micron media, held in place by a weak leaf spring that reduces seal quality and lets dirty oil blow past the media.

The 114000740 answers each point. It carries 330 square inches of filtration area, a 27% increase over the OEM filter, in ultra-fine synthetic microfiber MicroPure XR® media rated at 5 microns nominal. A heavy-duty coil spring holds the media end cap tight to the base plate so dirty oil cannot blow by. An integrated high-temperature-rated neodymium magnet captures ferrous particles before they clog the media, which PPE says extends filter and oil life.

The bypass valve is where PPE separates this filter from competitors' filters, which PPE says use an unsealed bypass valve. This one uses a steel-NBR poppet and a precision coil spring for a proper seal and consistent performance. A heat-resistant silicone anti-drainback valve holds oil in the filter after the engine is turned off, for better protection against dry starts.

On the PF26 and PF63: PPE points out that the PF63 has larger passage holes for improved flow, but it is the same filter used on the 5.3L Small Block, with smaller filtration media that clogs more easily. GM now lists the PF63 as its recommended filter for 2020-and-newer L5P trucks and still calls the PF26 compatible. PPE says the 114000740 gives you better flow, more capacity and more protection than either one.

About PPE

We stock Pacific Performance Engineering because most of what they build is aimed at the 6.6L Duramax. PPE was founded in 1985 in North Las Vegas, Nevada, and has since grown into Cummins and Power Stroke parts, covering exhaust, transmission, fuel system, cooling and steering along with cast aluminum pans and covers.

Frequently asked questions

My truck came with a PF26. Does this replace it?

Yes, on a 2020-2025 6.6L L5P (verify a 2025 by VIN). PPE positions the 114000740 as the upgrade over both the PF26 and the PF63. GM has since superseded the PF26 to the PF63B, so you may see that number at a parts counter too.

How is this different from the PPE 114000750?

Both are PPE MicroPure XR filters covered by the same 2020-and-newer L5P compatibility notes. The 114000740 is the standard-size filter with 330 square inches of media. The 114000750 is PPE's oversized version, sold as its own listing with its own install requirements, so read its page before you choose it.

Will it fit my 2017-2019 L5P?

No. The 2017-2019 L5P uses the PF2232-size filter, and it does not interchange with the 2020-and-newer filter. PPE 114000555 covers 2001-2019 Duramax trucks.
