The PPE 114000555 MicroPure XR is a direct-replacement engine oil filter for the 6.6L Duramax, from the 2001 LB7 through the 2017-2019 L5P. It carries 900 square inches of filtration media, a 150% increase over the factory filter, with a 5-micron rating. You buy it for more filtration media than the stock filter and a magnet that holds wear metal until the next change.

Fits GM trucks with the 6.6L Duramax, 2001-2019, across six engine codes:
- LB7: 2001-2004
- LLY: 2004.5-2005
- LBZ: 2006-2007
- LMM: 2007.5-2010
- LML: 2011-2016
- L5P: 2017-2019
On the L5P, this filter stops at the 2019 model year, and that lines up with GM's filter change: 2017-2019 L5P trucks take the PF2232-size filter, 2020-and-newer trucks take the PF26/PF63, and the two do not interchange. If your L5P is a 2020 or newer, look at PPE 114000740 or the oversized 114000750 instead. Verify fitment by VIN or call us before you order.
Why this part
The oil filter is the only thing between your bearings and whatever the oil picks up between changes. This PPE filter works on that two ways. Its media stops particles down to 5 microns, and a high-power internal neodymium magnet holds ferrous wear metal so it stays in the filter. A 50% thicker base plate, a 450 PSI maximum burst rating and the TorqueStop feature keep it sealed tight to the filter housing.
The bypass valve opens 10 PSI higher than the stock filter's, so more of your oil goes through the media before the valve lets any of it around. The 13/16-16 UNF threaded baseplate has 47% larger passages to keep oil moving through 900 square inches of media. A perforated metal core and spiral-wrapped adhesive hold that media in place, and a reinforced silicone anti-drain-back valve keeps the flow going one direction.
On 2017-2019 L5P trucks that live on short trips, fuel dilution of the engine oil has been reported, and oil and filter changes every 5,000-7,500 miles are a common recommendation for that kind of use. Whatever interval your truck runs, this filter goes on in place of the stock one at every change.

Frequently asked questions
Will this filter fit my 2020 or newer Duramax?
No. GM changed the L5P oil filter for 2020. The 2017-2019 trucks use the PF2232 size, 2020-and-newer trucks use the PF26/PF63, and they do not interchange. For a 2020-and-newer L5P, see PPE 114000740 or 114000750.
Is it a direct swap for the factory filter?
Yes. PPE builds it as a direct replacement for the stock oil filter, on a 13/16-16 UNF threaded baseplate. Install it the way you would the factory filter; the TorqueStop feature is there to make sure it seals tight to the housing.
What does the magnet do?
It pulls ferrous particles, the iron and steel wear metal, out of the oil and holds them inside the filter, so they leave the engine when the filter comes off at the next change.
