The PPE 113050000 Diesel Lift Pump is listed for 2001-2016 GM trucks with the 6.6L Duramax, LB7 through LML. It pushes fuel from the tank to the injection pump at up to 160 GPH, so the high-pressure pump is no longer pulling fuel under vacuum.

Fitment

Listed for 2001-2016 GM trucks with the 6.6L Duramax. That covers every engine in that span: LB7 (2001-2004), LLY (2004.5-2005), LBZ (2006-2007), LMM (2007.5-2010) and LML (2011-2016). It is not listed for the 2017-2026 L5P, which came with a factory lift pump. Verify by VIN or call the shop if you are not sure which engine you have.

Why this part

In stock form, the injection pump on these trucks has to pull fuel from the tank on its own. On the LB7 through LMM that is the CP3. The 2011-2016 LML is the only Duramax with the Bosch CP4.2, and that pump is the LML's known weak point. Its cam and roller scuff when the fuel film thins out, and air from a low tank or a suction leak is one of the causes. When it fails, it machines metal into the whole high-pressure system.

This pump changes the job. Instead of the injection pump pulling, the PPE lift pump pushes fuel through the lines and filter and eliminates vacuum from the fuel tank to the high-pressure pump. That takes away the chance of air being drawn into the system, collapsed hoses and fuel restrictions. On the LML, the flexible supply line between the valve cover and brake booster is known to kink or collapse and starve the pump; with the lift pump pushing, that line is no longer under suction.

It is also the base of a bigger fuel build. PPE highly recommends it with its Dual Fueler CP3 kit, and pairing it with the Billet Aluminum Fuel Pickup and CP3 High Flow Feed Line Kits cuts restriction further. Compare it with our other lift pumps if you are still deciding.

Frequently asked questions

Does this pump replace my factory fuel filter?

No. The lift pump pushes fuel through the lines and the filter, so the factory filter stays in the system. The pump has its own reusable internal filter on top of that.

Can I run biodiesel?

Yes. PPE lists the pump as compatible with biodiesel and low sulfur diesel.

With a lift pump on my LML, can I still run the tank low?

Do not make a habit of it. The standard advice for protecting the CP4.2 is to keep the tank above a quarter and never run it dry, and the LML fuel gauge is known to read wrong, so you may have less fuel than you think. A lift pump helps, but it is not a license to run on fumes.
