The MAHLE 95-3466 engine gasket kit is a full reseal kit for the 5.9L 12-valve Cummins in 1989-1998 Dodge trucks. It combines a head set, including a standard thickness head gasket, and a lower engine gasket set in one box. You buy it when the engine is coming apart and you want OE form, fit and function from top to bottom.

Fitment

Built for the 5.9L 12-valve Cummins in 1989-1993 Dodge Ram D250/D350 and Power Ram W250/W350 trucks, including pickup-based 250/350 chassis cabs, and in 1994-1998 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 trucks. It is not listed for the 1998.5-2002 24-valve or the 2003-2007 common-rail 5.9L. The head gasket is standard thickness. Verify fitment by VIN or call us. More 12-valve parts are on our Cummins page.

Why this part

The newest truck this kit fits is a 1998, so every engine it goes on is decades old. When the engine comes apart for a rebuild, a head job or a leak hunt, buying the head set and the lower engine gasket set together means the top end and the bottom end go back together on fresh gaskets from one maker, in one order. MAHLE builds its gaskets and seals for OE form, fit and function, with performance as good as, or better than, the original, and a factory-like seal.

Know where these engines leak before you tear in. On 1989-1993 trucks, exhaust manifold bolts loosen and manifold gaskets leak under heat cycling, which shows up as ticking at the head, soot streaks at the manifold and creeping EGT. On the same trucks, the intake grid heater sits between the air horn and the intake manifold on its own gaskets, and a leak there shows as a boost hiss at the horn and oily residue around the flange. MAHLE's listing does not break out every gasket in the head set and lower set, so if you need to confirm a specific one before you start, call us.

Frequently asked questions

Does this kit fit a 1998.5-2002 24-valve?

No. The 95-3466 is listed for the 1989-1998 5.9L 12-valve only. If your truck is a 1998, check whether it is an early 12-valve or a 1998.5 24-valve before you order, or call us with your VIN.

What thickness is the head gasket?

Standard thickness. If the block or head has been resurfaced, ask your machinist what the engine needs before you order.

Is this the whole engine or just the top end?

Both. MAHLE lists it as an engine gasket set made up of a head set and a lower engine gasket set, so it covers the top end and the bottom end in one kit.
