The MAHLE 224-3851WR-0.75MM Maxx Force 7 Piston With Rings (.75MM) is for the 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Powerstroke and the Navistar Maxx Force 7. Built to factory specifications, it delivers factory performance. Engine builders use it in 6.4L rebuilds to eliminate the cracking issues of the stock pistons.
Fitment
Add it to your 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Power Stroke (F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, the F-450 Super Duty pickup, and F-450/F-550 chassis cabs) or Navistar Maxx Force 7. These pistons are designed for the Navistar Maxx Force 7 engine and are commonly used in 6.4L Powerstroke engines. Please consult your machine shop/engine builder to confirm fitment in your application. The 6.4L is unique to 2008-2010, and nothing in its long block interchanges with the 6.0L or the 6.7L, so this is not a piston for those engines. Verify fitment by VIN or call us. Why this part
Stock 6.4L pistons crack, and that is the reason this piston exists in a Power Stroke catalog. Maxx Force 7 industrial pistons have a de-lipped bowl and a thicker crown, and they are the usual replacement for cracked factory pistons during a rebuild. If you are building for high horsepower, forged pistons are the other route, and we can talk that through with you.
Find out why the old pistons failed before new ones go in. A leaking or stuck-open piezo injector can, in the worst case, melt a piston with no warning light, so test the injectors and look at fuel quality. When the heads come off, mill them no more than 0.005 in, and install head studs instead of reusing the torque-to-yield bolts. After the rebuild, check the dipstick weekly and change the oil every 5,000 miles. If the level ever reads over max, change it right away, because a rising level means fuel is getting into the oil.
