Hot Shot's Secret Diesel Extreme is a concentrated fuel system cleaner engineered to remove internal diesel injector deposits (IDIDs), including waxy and polymeric deposits. It also carries a cetane booster, lubricity additive and fuel stabilizer. It isn't engine-specific; add it after a fill-up in any diesel pickup when you want cleaner injectors, better cold starts and less black smoke.
Fitment
Diesel Extreme treats diesel fuel, so there's no year, make or model to match. It goes in a Duramax, Cummins, Power Stroke or EcoDiesel the same way. Why this part
Hot Shot's engineered Diesel Extreme to remove internal diesel injector deposits (IDIDs), including the waxy and polymeric types. It's fully formulated: besides the cleaner, it carries a strong dose of cetane booster, a lubricity enhancer to further reduce wear, a water dispersant, rust and corrosion inhibitors and a fuel stabilizer. You get injector cleaning and a full fuel treatment in the same bottle.
The goal is better combustibility. Hot Shot's says that improves horsepower and fuel economy, and by improving combustibility it reduces the number of diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration cycles your truck needs. Installation notes
Add Diesel Extreme to the tank after your next fuel up. Hot Shot's dosing information:
- 2 quarts treat 160 gallons of diesel fuel.
- 1 quart treats 80 gallons of diesel fuel.
- 16 oz. bottle treats 40 gallons of diesel fuel.
- Use one treatment of Diesel Extreme every 6 months.
The gallon size isn't on that list, so follow the treat rate printed on the jug.

Do I need a separate cetane booster or lubricity additive with it?
Diesel Extreme already contains a cetane booster, a lubricity enhancer, a water dispersant, rust and corrosion inhibitors and a fuel stabilizer, on top of the injector deposit cleaner.
Does it help with DPF regenerations?
Hot Shot's says that by improving combustibility, Diesel Extreme reduces the number of DPF regeneration cycles needed. It works with your truck's emissions system, not around it.
