The Fleece Performance FPE-FMC-UHFA-1123 is a billet aluminum replacement for the plastic under-hood fuel filter assembly on 2011-2026 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 trucks with the 6.7L Power Stroke. Owners buy it to get rid of a factory plastic filter that can crack and leak fuel on top of the engine.
Fitment
Fleece lists this assembly for 2011-2026 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups and F-450 and F-550 trucks with the 6.7L Power Stroke. That covers both the 2011-2016 first-generation engine and the 2017-and-later second generation. Ford changed the filter kit and the engine-mounted housing at 2017, with FD-4615 on 2011-2016 trucks and FD-4625AA from 2017 on. Fleece covers both with one kit: older trucks use one inlet and one outlet fitting, and newer trucks get an extra quick-disconnect for the additional fuel return. Fleece's application notes:
- Fits 2011-2026 F250/350/450/550 with 6.7L Powerstroke. The 2011-2016 model trucks use only one inlet and one outlet fitting. For 2017-2024 trucks, an additional quick disconnect fitting is provided for the required additional fuel return.
- This product is compatible with trucks equipped with an S&S Diesel Motorsport DCR conversion kit or the S&S Diesel Motorsport CP4 Disaster Prevention Kit.
- Replaces the under hood factory filter in Motorcraft Kits FD-4615 and FD-4625AA that contain manufacturer part numbers HC3Z9N184C and BC3Z9N184B.
- For 2011-2016 applications, the under bed primary fuel filter may be purchased individually, Fleece Performance part number: FPE-FMC-FFUB-1116

Why this part
The factory under-hood filter assembly on the 6.7L is plastic, and Fleece's reason for building this one is plain: the plastic OE filters are prone to cracking and fuel leakage. The platform record agrees. On 2011-2016 trucks the plastic engine-mounted housings get brittle with age and start to weep fuel. On 2015-2016 trucks a cracked housing can spray fuel onto the inboard exhaust, which is a fire hazard. A diesel smell, fuel on top of the engine or drips near the driver-side filter are the signs to look for.
This kit replaces the plastic with a heavy duty anodized billet aluminum cap and billet aluminum quick-disconnect fittings, so the cracked-filter risk goes away. It runs a replaceable spin-on Donaldson filter that is easy to service, and filter service matters on this engine. On 2015-2016 trucks Ford's interval is 22,500 miles normal, or 15,000 miles, 6 months or 600 hours severe, with biodiesel counted as severe. Metal debris in a cut-open filter is the earliest warning of a CP4 pump problem, so every change is also a chance to check.
