Fitment

This shock is listed for 2019-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks with the 3.0L Duramax (LM2/LZ0). Our engine tag runs from 2019 on and the title stops at 2025, so we list 2019-2025; verify fitment by VIN. Bilstein engineered it for GM trucks with a factory-style front coilover suspension. It does not fit ZR2 or AT4X models. It is a front shock only, and it is not for the 6.6L Duramax in the 2500HD/3500HD. Shock absorbers are sold individually. Send us your VIN if you are not sure.

Why this part

This shock does the leveling itself. The body has multiple snap-ring grooves, and the spring seat sits in the groove that gives you the height you want. Depending on the application, that works out to 0-2.5 inches of front lift with the OE springs. Bilstein calls the B8 5100 (Ride Height Adjustable) the simplest way to level your truck, and it is built for a lifted or leveled Silverado or Sierra 1500.

Inside, it is a monotube with a 46mm digressive piston and a self-adjusting deflective disc valve setting. Bilstein says that combination gives you increased wheel travel and better handling. The body is zinc plated, damping is non-adjustable, and there is no reservoir to find room for.

Installation notes

Front lift height is suggested by the manufacturer. Because there are so many different aftermarket suspension systems, take a measurement for proper application before you choose a shock. A pin to eye shock is measured from the base of the stem, where the mounting hardware rests, to the center of the eyelet. The spring seat height is set by which snap-ring groove you use, so decide on your target height before the coilover is assembled.
