The BHP20015 is a 2.5 in. hidden receiver hitch from Big Hitch Products for 1999-2016 Ford Super Duty trucks with the 7.3L, 6.0L, 6.4L or 6.7L Power Stroke. It mounts completely behind a roll pan, so you keep the clean, smoothed rear end and still have an SAE J684-05 certified Class 4+ receiver to tow with.
Fitment
Fits 1999-2016 Ford Super Duty short bed and long bed trucks with a roll pan installed: 1999-2003 with the 7.3L Power Stroke, 2003-2007 with the 6.0L, 2008-2010 with the 6.4L and 2011-2016 with the first-generation 6.7L. Installation requires frame modification and trimming of the rear spare tire crossmember, and the spare tire must be removed. Does NOT include trailer plug mount. Why this part
Bolting on a roll pan usually means losing the factory receiver. The BHP 99-16 Ford Super Duty Short/Long Bed BEHIND Roll Pan 2.5 inch Hidden Receiver Hitch puts the tow point back without hanging a receiver below the pan. The hitch is completely hidden BEHIND the roll pan, and you reach it through the license plate hole when it is time to tow.
It also moves the towing point forward almost 8 in. BHP says that gives better weight distribution and an advantage when truck pulling, which is why the same hitch suits a dedicated pulling truck or a daily driver. It has a powdercoated black finish and is compatible with BHP's other hitch products.
The hitch is SAE J684-05 certified as a Class 4+ receiver, rated at 20,000 lbs weight carrying capacity and 2,000 lbs max tongue weight. That is the hitch's number, not the truck's. For the 2008-2010 and 2015-2016 trucks, the documented towing problem is not a hitch failing; it is loading past the truck's payload and GCWR, often because tongue weight is not counted against the door-label GVWR and rear axle rating. Installation notes
This is a complete bolt in design with some trimming required to the rear spare tire crossmember. No welding required. The spare tire must be removed. Some trucks may require the factory frame holes to be reamed out a little bit to allow for the larger hardware to be installed. All necessary hardware is included, but the kit does NOT include a trailer plug mount, so plan where your trailer plug will live before you start. If you would rather not trim and ream it yourself, the shop does this work.
