Why this part

The coolant bottle sensor is a known weak point on L5P Duramax trucks. When it glitches, the truck can throw a code and trigger warnings even when the coolant level is fine. The fooler mimics the factory sensor's resistance range, so the ECM keeps reading a healthy level and you stay focused on the road or the job instead of a warning light.

One caution from the shop floor: a fooler only covers a bad sensor. It cannot tell you when coolant is actually low, so rule out a real leak first. On the L5P, the plastic upper radiator hose fittings and the edges of the coolant reservoir can develop hairline cracks after long heat exposure, which shows up as orange DEX-COOL residue, a sweet smell and genuine low-coolant warnings. Water pump leaks are also reported across L5P years, sometimes as a weep from the pump and a temperature gauge that climbs under load. Check the level cold, look for residue around the tank and pump, and only then blame the sensor.
