The Fleece FPE-34658-BLK-SPK is a billet aluminum upper fan idler for 2003-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 5.9L or 6.7L Cummins that run an electric water pump. It comes complete with bearing, in Fleece's custom spoke design with a black anodized, contrast-cut finish. If you have gone to an electric water pump, this is the upper idler built for that setup.
Fitment
This idler fits Dodge Ram and Ram 2500/3500 trucks with these engines, when the truck runs an electric water pump:
- 2003-2007 5.9L common-rail Cummins
- 2007.5-2012 6.7L Cummins
- 2013-2018 6.7L Cummins
From the factory, these Cummins engines use a belt-driven water pump. This idler is made for use with an electric water pump, so if your truck still runs the factory pump, call us before you order. Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs share the 6.7L but use different frames, filters and exhaust routing, so verify chassis-cab fitment separately. When in doubt, verify by VIN or call us.
Why this part
Water pumps are a regular service item on the Cummins. The factory 5.9L/6.7L pump uses a plastic impeller that is prone to cracking and a small bearing with a high failure rate. On 2013-2017 trucks, recall 17V-562 replaced Concentric-brand water pumps that could leak coolant past the bearing. Even outside the recall, two water pump replacements over 185,000 miles is not unusual on a Cummins.
If your truck already runs an electric water pump, this upper fan idler is the piece Fleece builds for that setup. It is billet aluminum and comes complete with bearing, so there is no separate bearing to source. The finish is black anodized, with a contrast cut on Fleece's custom spoke design.
