Call or Text (352) 722-5295Compound turbos on the 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins
From the factory, this engine runs a single Holset HE300VG variable-geometry turbo, revised for 2019 with taller vanes, heavier-duty bearings and a forged-milled compressor wheel, good for up to 33 psi. That turbo also makes the exhaust brake. A compound setup stages two turbochargers in series, so one turbo feeds pressurized air to the other. It is a bigger job than swapping a turbo: more plumbing, more parts and more decisions about how the system works with the rest of the truck. Read the ATS listing for exactly what the kit includes and what it works with.
Fix the stock turbo first
If the truck feels down on power, rule out a tired factory turbo before you plan a compound build. The classic problem on this engine is soot and oil coking on the vane ring and pivots. The exhaust brake fades first, then you get low or erratic boost, black smoke, high EGTs and limp mode, commonly between 50,000 and 150,000 miles. If that sounds like your truck, a direct-replacement HE300VG keeps the exhaust brake, EGR and DPF/SCR compatibility and runs on factory tuning. Diagnose first, then decide whether you are fixing a problem or building something new.
What we carry
The kit on this page is the ATS Diesel Performance Aurora Compound Turbo Upgrade, listed for 2019-2024 6.7L Cummins trucks. If you are replacing or refreshing the factory turbo instead, look under Drop In Turbos for direct-fit and performance turbos and under Accessories for gaskets, oil lines, drain tubes and clamps. Our full turbos page covers other trucks.
Fitment and emissions notes
Check the year range on the listing against your truck; the ATS kit is listed for 2019-2024, and 2025 trucks moved to a Gen II HE300VG. Read what the kit requires to run before you commit. On emissions, our research has not turned up a CARB Executive Order number for any compound kit on this platform, so check the listing and your state's rules before you buy. If you want to talk it through, call the shop.
Frequently asked questions
Is a compound kit emissions legal on a 2019-2024 Ram?
Our research has not found a CARB Executive Order number for any compound kit on the 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins. Check the product listing and your state's emissions rules before you buy.
Should I replace my stock turbo or go compound?
If the factory turbo is failing, start with the repair. A direct-replacement HE300VG keeps the exhaust brake and all emissions functions and needs no tuning. A compound kit is a build decision, not a fix, so make it once the truck is healthy.
Does it matter if my truck is high output or standard output?
Check before you order any turbo part. The high-output engine was a 3500-pickup-only option, and Ram's sales code ETM marks it, while ETL marks standard output. Send us the VIN if you are not sure.
