Call or Text (352) 722-5295Tail lights on the 2019-2024 RAM 6.7L Cummins
Ram split tail lamps by trim on this generation, not by engine. Tradesman and base Big Horn trucks got incandescent tail lamps. Laramie and the trims above it got LED tail lamps, which the 2019 feature chart groups with the LED fog lamps and signature lighting on upper packages. Blind-spot-sensor LED tails did not arrive as an upper-trim option until 2025, and the refreshed 2025 tail lamps do not fit 2019-2024 trucks. Inside this generation, lamps of the same configuration interchange, so a 2019 tail light fits a 2024 built the same way.
What fails and why
No widespread tail lamp failure pattern is documented for this generation. The towing complaint that does come up is anecdotal: owners of 2019 trucks report trailer lights dropping out with a 'trailer not connected' message. That points to the trailer connector or the body control module, not the tail lamps, so swapping lamps or adding a converter will not fix it. If your trailer lights cut out on the road, have the trailer circuit checked first.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If a tail lamp is cracked, a same-type replacement is the simplest repair, and any 2019-2024 lamp built for your configuration will interchange. If you are changing lamp type on a base-trim truck, the wiring has to suit the new lamp. That is the job of a wiring converter like the AlphaRex 640013. Read its product page to confirm which lamps it pairs with before you order, because a converter built for one setup is not a universal fix.
What we carry
This collection holds the AlphaRex 640013 stock halogen tail light wiring converters, listed for 2019-2024 Cummins Ram trucks. Its name ties it to the stock halogen, bulb-type tail lamp wiring rather than the factory LED tails. Complete tail lamp assemblies are not in this collection at the moment. If you are also changing headlights, the AlphaRex projector headlights for this truck sit in the Headlights section of the same Lighting menu.
Fitment notes
Listed for 2019-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with the 6.7L Cummins. Dually owners: DRW rear fenders carry fender-mounted clearance lamps that SRW trucks do not have, and DRW and Max Tow trucks get cab-mounted LED clearance lamps as standard. Those clearance lamps are separate from the tail lamps. Nothing from the 2025 refresh crosses over. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my Ram has LED or incandescent tail lights?
Go by trim. Tradesman and base Big Horn trucks came with incandescent tail lamps, and Laramie and up came with LED. If parts have been swapped or you are not sure of the trim, call us with the VIN and we will check it.
Will a tail light from a 2019 fit my 2024?
Yes, as long as the configuration matches, because lamps interchange across 2019-2024. The refreshed 2025 tail lamps are a different design and do not fit.
My trailer lights cut out while towing. Is it my tail lights?
Probably not. Owners of 2019 trucks report trailer lights dropping out with a 'trailer not connected' message, and that traces to the trailer connector or body control module. The reports are anecdotal, so have the trailer circuit diagnosed before you buy lamps or converters.
