Call or Text (352) 722-5295Exhaust Pipe and Systems on the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel
Exhaust leaves the EcoDiesel's single variable-geometry turbo and runs through a diesel oxidation catalyst, a DPF that actively regenerates, and an SCR catalyst dosed with DEF, with NOx sensors watching before and after. Ram built every year with high-pressure cooled EGR, and the 2020-2023 engine also draws exhaust for a low-pressure EGR loop from behind the DPF. Compliant aftermarket systems begin after the filter, which is why they are called filter-back or DPF-back. Everything ahead of that point, and the flanges that join it, stays factory.
What fails and why
The EcoDiesel's documented exhaust-side trouble is not cracked metal. The sources we work from show no cracked-manifold or broken-bolt pattern on this engine. What does show up is carbon: owners who pull the EGR pipe on second-generation engines find heavy buildup inside. On the pipe itself, the parts that wear are the flange gaskets. Replace them whenever a joint is opened, whether that is for a sensor, turbo work or a new filter-back system.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If you are keeping the factory system, MAHLE's F33619 and F33764 exhaust pipe flange gaskets reseal it. If you want a different sound or exit, MBRP's S6169AL is a 3.5-inch aluminized filter-back system with a single side exit, MBRP's Tour Profile layout. It bolts on behind the DPF and leaves all of the aftertreatment in place. The universal MBRP pipe and exhaust adapter are for a shop building or repairing a section where no direct-fit part exists, such as joining pipes of different sizes.
What we carry
MBRP supplies the S6169AL Armor Lite 3.5-inch filter-back system, a universal exhaust adapter and universal pipe. MAHLE supplies the F33619 and F33764 exhaust pipe flange gaskets, labeled for the 2014-2019 3.0L EcoDiesel. Having the right gaskets on the bench before you unbolt anything saves a second trip. Tips, mufflers, clamps and heat wrap for this truck sit in the neighboring collections, and the full exhaust category covers more.
Fitment notes
Filter-back systems are body-specific. The DS (the 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic) and the DT (2020-2023) differ in wheelbase and exit layout, and MBRP's listed EcoDiesel systems are for the 2014-2018 DS. Within this page's years, that makes the S6169AL a 2018 part. The MAHLE flange gaskets are labeled 2014-2019. A 2020-2023 owner should not assume either one fits; verify by VIN. Also keep in mind that the 2023 EcoDiesel was sold only as a Crew Cab 4x4, and no Ram 2500 or 3500 ever had this engine.
Frequently asked questions
Does a filter-back system change my emissions equipment?
No. MBRP's EcoDiesel filter-back systems bolt on after the DPF and leave the oxidation catalyst, DPF, SCR and sensors in place. You change the pipe, muffler and exit behind the filter, nothing ahead of it.
Why is the S6169AL only a 2018 fit on this page?
MBRP lists it for 2014-2018 EcoDiesel trucks, and this collection covers 2018-2023, so 2018 is the overlap. The 2020-2023 DT also has a different wheelbase and exhaust exits than the DS. Call with your VIN if you are unsure which body you have.
Should I replace the flange gaskets when I install a new exhaust?
Yes. Any flanged joint you open should get a new gasket. MAHLE's F33619 and F33764 are labeled for 2014-2019 EcoDiesel exhaust pipe flanges; match the one that comes off your truck.
