Call or Text (352) 722-5295Radiators on the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel
The radiator is the main heat exchanger for a cooling system that also serves a cooled EGR system and a water-cooled turbo. High-pressure cooled EGR has been on this engine since 2014, and the 2020-2023 third-generation engine added a low-pressure EGR loop after the DPF. The 2018 Ram 1500 and 2019 Ram 1500 Classic ride on the older DS body with the second-generation engine. The 2020-2023 Ram 1500 is the newer DT body with an engine Ram described as 80% new. Different trucks up front means different radiators.
What fails and why
There is no documented radiator core failure pattern on the EcoDiesel. Cooling-system trouble on this engine centers on the EGR cooler. On 2014-2019 engines it can crack and let vaporized coolant into the EGR system, where it can combust in the intake manifold, and NHTSA recall 19V757 covers it. If your 2018 or 2019 is losing coolant with white smoke from the engine bay and the radiator is dry, the radiator is probably not your problem. A radiator gets replaced here when it is leaking or damaged.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
The radiators in this collection are CSF OEM Style Replacement units, built to go in where the factory radiator was. With no documented radiator failure pattern on this engine, a stock-pattern radiator is the sensible fix when yours is leaking or damaged. If you are pulling the radiator, plan the refill: one owner who flushed a third-generation truck at 80,000 miles reported needing a pressure/vacuum fill kit.
What we carry
- CSF 3738 OEM Style Replacement Radiator, listed for 2014-2019 3.0L EcoDiesel trucks.
- CSF 3960 OEM Style Replacement Radiator, listed for 2019-2023 3.0L EcoDiesel trucks.
Fitment notes
Pick by model year and body. The CSF 3738 covers 2014-2019, which in this collection means the 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. The CSF 3960 is listed for 2019-2023. Every 2019 EcoDiesel is a Ram 1500 Classic, because the new-body 2019 Ram 1500 was not offered with a diesel, so a 2019 owner should confirm by VIN which radiator the truck takes before ordering. For a 2020-2023 truck, the CSF 3960 is the one listed. The EcoDiesel was offered in the Ram 1500 only. Verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Which CSF radiator fits my 2019 Ram 1500 Classic EcoDiesel?
The CSF 3738 is listed for 2014-2019 trucks, and the 2019 Classic carries the same second-generation engine as the 2018 Ram 1500. The CSF 3960 listing also starts at 2019, so confirm with your VIN or call the shop before you order. We will match it to your truck.
Is the radiator a common failure on the EcoDiesel?
There is no documented radiator core failure pattern on this engine. The cooling failure that is documented is the EGR cooler on 2014-2019 engines, covered by NHTSA recall 19V757. If you are losing coolant without a visible leak, check that recall first.
Which radiator fits my 2021 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel?
The CSF 3960, listed for 2019-2023 3.0L EcoDiesel trucks. The 2020-2023 truck uses the third-generation engine and the newer body, so the 2014-2019 CSF 3738 is not listed for it.
