Call or Text (352) 722-5295Leveling the 2014-2017 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel
A coil-spring Ram 1500 rides on upper and lower A-arms up front, with a coil spring and twin-tube shock on each side. Leveling kits for this truck raise the front to remove the factory rake, and most are either 2-inch front spacers or upper strut-mount style kits. The engine changes the math. The diesel is heavier than the gas engines, so the front spring rate is different, and one kit maker lists Crew Cab 5.7L and EcoDiesel trucks at 1.75 to 2.0 inches from the same kit. Owners also report results that vary by cab style.
Basic kit or coil-over kit
You have a real choice here. The BDS 2-inch leveling kit comes with FOX 2.5 coilovers, so the front shock assemblies get replaced at the same time you level. That suits an owner whose factory twin-tube shocks have plenty of miles on them, or who wants a different ride. The Daystar KC09113BK is a 2.5-inch leveling kit; check its listing for exactly what comes in the box. It suits an owner who mainly wants the rake gone.
What we carry
Leveling kits from BDS Suspension and Daystar, listed for 4WD EcoDiesel trucks: the BDS 2-inch kit with FOX 2.5 coilovers and the Daystar KC09113BK 2.5-inch kit.
Tires, ratings and fitment
Owners who level 2 inches commonly keep the stock tire size or move to a light all-terrain, based on owner forums. Keep your ratings in mind when you change tires: Ram rates EcoDiesel Quad and Crew Cabs at 6,950 lb GVWR, but 6,800 lb with off-road tires or steel wheels. The kits here are listed for 4WD trucks. Their listings read 2014-2018 or 2014-2023, which covers your model year, and the EcoDiesel did not change mechanically between 2017 and 2018. Leveling kits are not for trucks with factory air suspension. Everything here is for the half-ton Ram 1500 EcoDiesel; verify by VIN before you order.
Frequently asked questions
My EcoDiesel has air suspension. Should I buy a leveling kit?
No. Leveling kits for the 2014-2018 EcoDiesel are sold for coil-spring trucks only. Your factory air system already has Entry/Exit, Normal, Off-Road 1 and Off-Road 2 heights; on a Crew Cab with the 5-foot-7 box and 17-inch tires, Off-Road 2 gives about 10.8 inches of ground clearance.
How much will my truck actually come up?
Treat the number on the box as a guide, not a promise. The heavier diesel means a different front spring rate than a HEMI truck, and one kit maker lists Crew Cab EcoDiesel results of 1.75 to 2.0 inches. Measure before and after.
What tire size can I run after leveling?
Owners who level 2 inches commonly stay on the stock size or go to a light all-terrain. Anything bigger is a clearance question for your specific truck, so call us first. Remember that off-road tires lower the GVWR rating to 6,800 lb on Quad and Crew Cabs.
Is there a leveling kit here for a 2WD EcoDiesel?
The kits on this page are listed for 4WD trucks. If you have a 2WD Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, call us before ordering and we will check fitment by VIN.
