Owners upgrade these lamps three ways: plug-in LED bulbs matched to the lamp type, OEM-style projector housings, and complete aftermarket projector assemblies built for 2013-2018 trucks. This page is the third. The factory headlight comes out and a new housing with its own projector and styling goes in. It makes the most sense when you want more than a bulb change, and dim low beams are a common complaint with the halogen quad lamps on Tradesman, Express, SLT and Big Horn trucks.
Choosing a style
Start with finish. Chrome housings keep a bright look; black, jet black, gloss black and Alpha-Black versions darken the front of the truck. Then pick features. Anzo USA offers plank-style, switchback, halo and dual-projector designs, plus crystal headlights with an LED plank light bar. AlphaRex offers its Pro-Series projector line and its Luxx-Series and Nova-Series LED projector lines.
Fitment notes
These assemblies are made for the 2013-2018 DS body your 2014-2017 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel uses; lamps from 2009-2012 trucks and from the 2019 and newer DT Ram 1500 do not interchange. Count the bulb sockets on the back of your current housing, two for quad and one for projector or dual-beam, then pick the listing built for that type. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as putting LED bulbs in my factory headlights?
No. LED bulbs go into your factory housing and have to match its type, quad or projector. An upgraded replacement swaps the whole housing for a new projector assembly, which changes both the light and the look of the truck.
Will these fit a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic?
The 2019-2024 Ram 1500 Classic shares the 2013-2018 lamps, so lamps for this body generally fit it too; confirm on the product page. The redesigned 2019 and newer DT Ram 1500 is a different body, and its lamps don't interchange.
