Three transmissions sit behind this engine. The 68RFE six-speed automatic backs the standard-output 6.7L, the G56 is a Mercedes-Benz six-speed manual, and from 2013 the 3500 High Output got the Aisin AS69RC six-speed automatic. Of the two automatics, only the 68RFE has a TCM that is open to tuners. If you have the Aisin, an engine calibration is as far as tuning goes.
Why the 68RFE gets attention
Diesel World puts the 68RFE's factory capacity around 400 hp and 800 lb-ft. As power went up on these trucks, the transmission became the weak link, and modified trucks show clutch failure and limp mode, typically between 50,000 and 150,000 miles. Anyone adding an engine calibration should think about the transmission side at the same time.

Confirm your transmission by VIN before you order. 2010-2012 and 2013-2018 trucks are licensed separately, split by the change from the NOx adsorber to SCR with DEF.

Can I tune the Aisin in my 3500 High Output?
No. The Aisin AS69RC uses encryption that prevents tuning, so a High Output 3500 with the Aisin gets engine tuning only. The 68RFE is the automatic on this platform with an accessible TCM.
How much can a stock 68RFE handle?
