The 6.7L Cummins in these trucks was rated from 610 lb-ft with the G56 manual up to 930 lb-ft for the 2018 High Output 3500. On a leaf-spring rear, the springs both carry the load and locate the axle, so torque can twist the axle and wind the springs; that is the axle wrap a traction bar is built to control. Ram changed the rear suspension during this generation: the 3500 and the 2010-2013 2500 use leaf springs, and for 2014 the 2500 moved to a link-coil rear that keeps the axle positioned, with optional rear air suspension.
Leaf springs, coils and air
Leaf-spring trucks are the core fit for a traction bar, which on this platform means every 3500 and the 2010-2013 2500. The 2014-2018 2500's five-link coil rear already locates the axle with links, so read each kit's year and model range closely before assuming it suits a coil-spring truck. Factory rear air suspension is the other thing to check: the BD Diesel kit is listed for trucks without air suspension, and factory air trucks need air-specific suspension parts in general.
Bolt-on kit vs. universal bars
BD Diesel and BDS Suspension sell kits listed for Ram fitment, including the BDS Recoil traction bar kit and BDS fixed bars listed for a 3.5-inch axle. That is the simpler route if your truck matches the listing. WCFab takes the universal approach: 60-inch and 68-inch bars, complete Dodge/Ford universal kits in both lengths, a bracket and hardware install kit, and replacement bushings and heims. Fitment notes
Do not cross rear suspension parts between the 2010-2013 2500 leaf rear, the 2014-2018 2500 coil rear (with or without factory air) and the 3500 leaf rear. The BDS kits are listed for 4WD trucks, so 2WD owners should look at the BD Diesel or WCFab options and confirm fitment. Chassis cabs need their own check, and a VIN lookup settles the rest.

Do I need traction bars on a 2014-2018 Ram 2500?
The 2014-2018 2500 has a five-link coil rear that keeps the axle positioned with links, so it does not rely on the springs to locate the axle the way a leaf-spring truck does. If you still want bars, use a kit whose listing covers your year and rear suspension; the BD Diesel kit, for example, is listed for 2003-2018 2500/3500 trucks without air suspension.
Can I run traction bars on a Ram with factory rear air suspension?
