The 2010-2012 trucks wear the first fourth-generation HD front end. The 2013 restyle brought a larger grille and hood and changed the headlamps: upper trims got halogen projector headlamps with LED front signals and marker lamps, while lower trims stayed with reflector halogen headlamps. Ram did not fit HID to the 2013-2018 trucks; those projectors are halogen. An aftermarket assembly replaces the full housing and lens in one piece, which is why the housing type on your Cummins Ram matters before anything else.
What fails and why
The documented headlamp problem on this generation is recall 13V-240. It covered 2013 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks built between January 7 and February 28, 2013 that had the optional upgraded factory headlamps. The shutters in those lamps did not work properly in high-beam mode, and the symptoms were poor high-beam output or glare. The remedy reconfigured the body controller. If your early-build 2013 shows those signs, check the VIN for an open recall before you buy new headlights.

Aftermarket LED headlamp assemblies are cataloged for the 2010-2018 Ram HD as one body style, but harness and bezel details differ by trim. Confirm whether your truck has the 2013+ projector housing or the reflector housing, and match 2010-2012 versus 2013-2018 front-end parts, before you order. The listings here are for the Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup. The 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs share the engine but are built on different frames, so confirm chassis-cab fitment separately. Verify by VIN when you can.

How do I tell whether my Ram has projector or reflector headlamps?
From 2013 the upper trims came with halogen projector headlamps plus LED front signals and marker lamps, while the lower trims kept reflector halogens. Those LED signals and markers are a useful clue. If you are still unsure, call the shop with your VIN.
Does one headlight cover both 2010-2012 and 2013-2018 trucks?
