Call or Text (352) 722-5295Intercooler and piping on the 2010-2018 RAM 6.7L Cummins
The turbo on the 6.7L Cummins pushes hot, compressed air through the hot-side boost tube into an air-to-air intercooler. The cooled air comes back through the cold-side tube to the intake horn. 2010-2012 trucks run the Holset HE351VE turbo and 2013-2018 trucks run the Holset HE300VG, and the boost tubes are different parts on each. Every joint along the way is a boot and clamps, and all of it has to hold boost without losing pressure.
What fails and why
The documented problem is the 2013-2018 hot-side tube. Banks reports that it leaves the factory dented down to about 2-1/4 inches, while the cold side measures 2-3/4 inches. That pinch costs pressure between the turbo and the engine. You see it as boost loss and exhaust gas temperature creeping up under load. It is there from new, not something that develops with miles, so even a low-mileage truck has it.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If your intercooler is damaged and you just want stock performance back, the CSF OEM+ replacement intercoolers (6000 for 2010-2012, 6098 for 2013-2018) are made to go in where the factory core came out. If you want to fix the restriction, Banks has the parts with emissions paperwork: the 25992 boost tube kit for 2013-2018 uses 3-1/2 inch constant-diameter, mandrel-bent tubes with up to 103% more hot-side flow area under CARB EO D-161-122, and the 25987 intercooler for 2013-2018 flows 48% better with 55% less pressure drop under EO D-161-153. Diesel Hub's estimate for an intercooler upgrade is 20-plus horsepower and up to 200 degrees F lower EGT.
What we carry

- Bundles: WCFab Stage 2 high flow intake bundle kits for 2010-2012 and 2013-2018.
Fitment notes
Everything in this path splits at the 2013 model year. Read the year range in every title: the CSF 6076 heavy-duty core is listed for 2013-2017, not 2018, and WCFab's WCF100218 driver-side kit is listed for 2019-2024 trucks. Mishimoto boot kits come as MMBK-RAM-10BK for 2010-2012 and MMBK-RAM-13BK for 2013-2018. The Banks 25987 intercooler does not fit chassis cabs, and Banks puts its install at about 7 hours. Verify by VIN or use the fitment checker before you order.
Frequently asked questions
Is my factory boost tube really dented?
On a 2013-2018 truck, yes, according to Banks. The hot-side tube leaves the factory pinched to about 2-1/4 inches against a 2-3/4 inch cold side. Mileage does not matter, because it is that way from new.
Boost tubes or a new intercooler: which comes first?
If the dented hot-side tube on a 2013-2018 truck is the concern, tubes fix it directly. An intercooler is about cooling and pressure drop; Banks rates its 25987 at 48% better flow with 55% less pressure drop. Mishimoto sells intercooler-and-pipe kits if you want both in one box.
Will 2010-2012 intercooler parts fit my 2013-2018 truck?
No. Boost tubes split at 2013, and so do the intercoolers and boot kits here. The CSF 6000 and Mishimoto MMINT-RAM-10 are 2010-2012 parts, while the CSF 6098 and Mishimoto MMINT-RAM-13 are for 2013-2018.
Does the Banks intercooler fit a chassis cab?
The 25987 is listed for 2013-2018 trucks but not chassis cabs. Chassis-cab owners should look for parts that name their truck and confirm by VIN before ordering.
