Call or Text (352) 722-5295Cooling system parts on the 2007.5-2009 Ram 6.7L Cummins
Around the radiator and water pump sits everything that routes and controls coolant on the 6.7L Cummins: the thermostat and its housing, the upper and lower radiator hoses, the heater feed and return hoses to the cab, the EGR coolant hoses, the fan clutch and the temperature sensors. The turbo is water-cooled too, so its coolant lines belong to the same loop. The thermostat, fan clutch, hoses, EGR coolant hoses and water pump inlet housing are the routine service parts on this engine.
What to watch for
The parts on this page are service items more than known design flaws, and the documented trouble sits next to them. The EGR cooler's coolant hoses and fittings were revised for 2009, and recall 08V641000 covered an engine silencer pad that could sag onto the EGR cooler on 2007-2008 trucks. If you are losing coolant with no external leak, look at the EGR cooler or the head gasket before you start swapping hoses. When you do replace a housing or outlet, replace its gasket with it; that is why Mahle's water outlet and thermostat gasket and EGR cooler gasket are here.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
For a factory-style repair, start with the genuine Cummins 190-degree thermostat, Dayco molded radiator and heater hoses, and Dorman's thermostat housing and heater hose assemblies. To step up, Mishimoto's silicone radiator hose kit and top heater hose upgrade replace molded hoses, and Dorman and Pacific Performance Engineering offer metal and stainless heater hose connectors. Fleece sells a coolant bypass for 2007.5-2012 trucks with a separate service kit, O-ring kit and braided hoses; the service kit and hose brackets are here.
What we carry
- Fleece Performance Engineering: coolant bypass service kit, bypass hose brackets, heater feed and return hose kit, lower heater return hose, heater core replacement hose and fitting, and an M22 thermostat plug for the cylinder head.
- Mishimoto: high- and low-temperature thermostats, replacement and silicone hose kits, the top heater hose upgrade, a replacement radiator and radiator-cooler bundles.
- Dayco: upper and lower radiator hoses and heater inlet and outlet hoses.
- Dorman: a metal heater hose connector, heater hose assemblies and the 902-3044 thermostat housing.
- XDP: an engine coolant temperature sensor plus thermostat housing and water pump bolt kits.
- Wehrli Custom Fabrication: an upper coolant pipe, a thermostat housing and a billet tank cap.
- Mahle: water outlet, thermostat and EGR cooler gaskets and a water pump seal.
- Also a genuine Cummins thermostat, an Alliant Power temperature sensor, a PPE stainless heater hose connector, an S&B heater core supply hose and a CSF A/C condenser.
Fitment notes
Much of this is listed 2003-2009 or wider because the 5.9L and 6.7L share the third-generation chassis, but read every range. Dorman's 626-572 inlet heater hose assembly starts at 2009. Dayco's 87750 heater outlet hose is listed 2007.5-2009 only, and Dorman's 902-3044 thermostat housing is 2007.5-2012. A few parts in this collection are 5.9L only, like XDP's XD672 water pump and Mishimoto's MMB-RAM-002 bundle. The 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs ride on a different chassis. Verify by VIN when the year range splits.
Frequently asked questions
Did cooling parts change for the 2009 Ram 6.7L?
Yes. 2009 revised the water pump inlet housing and the EGR coolant hoses and fittings compared with 2007.5-2008. Confirm the 6.7L-specific lower hose and EGR hoses by VIN, and check the year range in each title.
Which thermostat should I buy for my 6.7L Cummins?
For a stock or near-stock truck, the genuine Cummins 5627589 190-degree thermostat is the factory-style choice. Mishimoto offers high- and low-temperature thermostats listed for 1998.5-2013 5.9L and 6.7L trucks. Replace the gasket at the same time; Mahle C33356 covers the water outlet and thermostat.
What is the Fleece coolant bypass service kit for?
It services Fleece's coolant bypass. Fleece sells the bypass for 2007.5-2012 6.7L trucks with its own service kit, O-ring kit and replacement braided hoses, and the bypass hose brackets on this page hold those hoses in place.
