A traction bar is a link that runs from the rear axle forward to a frame bracket, so the axle housing is held in place against the leaf springs when torque hits it. The leaves still carry the load; the bar controls how the axle moves.

The BDS Suspension fixed traction bars are listed for Ram 2500 4WD trucks from 2003 on with a 3.5-inch axle. The BD Diesel 1032130 kit is listed for 2003-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks without air suspension. With universal WCFab bars, pick the length that fits between your axle and the frame mount, and add brackets if you are not buying a complete kit. While you are under the truck, Thuren Fabrication's maintenance list calls for synthetic grease every 5,000 miles on greaseable joints and 120 ft-lb on the leaf-spring shackle pivot bolts.
