Front sway bar parts on the 2003-2004 Ram 5.9L Cummins

Sway-bar links sit on the short list of components that matter on a third-generation Ram 2500 or 3500, along with the track bar, ball joints, control arms, steering damper and rear leaf-spring hardware. Once you change the ride height, the link length has to change with it. Leveling to about 3 inches calls for longer links, and lifting past 3 inches changes the links again along with the control arms, track bar and shocks. Keep that in mind when you plan suspension work on your 5.9L Cummins Ram.

What we carry

BDS Suspension offers a front sway bar link kit made for 2 to 4 inch lifts and a front sway bar link disconnect kit, both listed for 2003-2013 5.9L and 6.7L Cummins 4WD trucks. BD Diesel offers the 1032050 sway bar end links and the 1312051 sway bar end link bushing kit, both listed for 2000-2009 Cummins trucks.

How to choose

Match the parts to your ride height. If the truck is leveled or lifted 2 to 4 inches, the BDS link kit is built for that range. If you want to be able to unhook the bar, the BDS disconnect kit is the part, and its instructions spell out how to use it. If you are refreshing worn parts rather than changing height, look at the BD Diesel end links and bushing kit and confirm the fit on the product page.

Fitment notes

The BDS kits are 4WD parts. Front-end parts for this truck are usually cataloged as 2003-2013 2500 and 2003-2012 3500 fitments, and the BD parts span 2000-2009 Cummins trucks, so long year ranges are normal. Run the fitment checker on the product page or verify by VIN before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need longer sway-bar links after leveling my Ram?

At around 3 inches of front lift, yes. Longer sway-bar links are required on 2003-2009 trucks at that height, along with longer shocks. The BDS link kit here covers 2 to 4 inch lifts.

What else should I check while I am working on the front end?

The track bar. With the engine running on asphalt, have a helper turn the steering wheel back and forth about 90 degrees while you watch both ends of the bar. Any visible bushing deflection is a serious issue, and that bar is the main cause of death wobble on these trucks.
