Call or Text (352) 722-5295Turbo accessories for the 1994-1998 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins
The 12-valve Cummins runs a wastegated Holset on a T3-flanged cast manifold, with a factory oil feed line and drain line and an air-to-air intercooler between the turbo and the intake. Each of those joints is a place where a gasket, line, fitting or clamp does the real work. The accessories in this collection cover them: the turbo-to-manifold seal, the oil supply and return, the charge-air clamps, the wastegate, heat control around the turbo, and tools for finding leaks.
What fails and why
Boost leaks lead the list. Intercooler boots slip out from under their clamps or split, and the result is low power, heavy smoke and a whoosh under boost; turning the boost up makes it worse. Better boots and clamps are the usual fix, and a boost leak tester pressurizes the system so you can find the leak instead of guessing. Gaskets and oil lines are the other half. Any time the turbo comes off, plan on new mounting gaskets for your year and fresh seals on the oil feed and drain.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
On a stock truck the accessories are service parts: MAHLE gaskets, a replacement oil feed line and solid clamps. On a truck getting a turbo upgrade the list grows. A boost elbow or adjustable wastegate raises boost from the stock 18 to 22 psi toward 35 to 40 psi for about 20 to 30 hp, but it works the stock turbo harder if more power follows. A bigger single or a compound setup usually moves to a T4 or T6 flange, which changes which gaskets, drain fittings and blankets you need. Turbo blankets keep heat at the turbo and off nearby parts.
What we carry
Here is what is in this collection, grouped by job. For complete turbos, see our turbos page.
- Gaskets: MAHLE F7414 undivided T3 mounting gasket, GS33582 and GS33583 mounting gasket sets, G33429 and G33430 inlet gaskets, and the G32761 T6 flange gasket.
- Oil supply and mounting: Fleece Performance Engineering replacement oil feed line, factory oil feed fitting and HX35 installation kit; PPE T4 oil drain fitting; BD Diesel 1045984 turbo mounting kit.
- Boost control: Dynomite Diesel DDPELBOW boost elbow and the BD 1047150 adjustable wastegate for 1994-1998 trucks.
- Clamps: Turbosmart constant-tension clamps, BD high-torque hose clamps and the BD exhaust V-band clamp.
- Heat: turbo blankets from PPE (titanium, T4 and T6), Mishimoto (titanium) and ATS Diesel (T4).
- Testing and cool-down: Calibrated Power Stealth boost tester HD regulator with Holset and S300/S400/S500 inlet adapters, and the BD Cool Down Timer 2.
Fitment notes
Match the flange first: the stock manifold is T3, so T4 and T6 gaskets, drain fittings and blankets are for upgraded turbos. Match the year next: the MAHLE GS33582 set is listed for 1991-1997 and the GS33583 for 1998-2002, and the Mishimoto MMTB-RAM-96 blanket is listed for 1996-2002, so 1994-1995 owners should check fitment. A 1994 truck may have the WH1C rather than the HX35, and a 1998 can be a 12-valve or a 24-valve, so confirm what is on your engine before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
What should I replace when the turbo comes off?
At minimum, the turbo mounting gasket or gasket set for your year, plus the oil feed and drain seals. If the oil feed line is old, the Fleece replacement line and fitting are a sensible add. The Fleece installation kit for HX35 turbos covers 1994-2002 trucks.
How do I find a boost leak on a 12-valve?
Start with the intercooler boots, which slip and split more than anything else in the system. If they look fine, pressure-test the charge-air side with a boost leak tester like the Calibrated Power Stealth kit and its Holset compressor inlet adapter. Replace tired clamps when you re-seat the boots.
Boost elbow or adjustable wastegate?
Both change how much boost the stock wastegated turbo makes. The Dynomite boost elbow is the simple fitting most owners start with, and the BD adjustable wastegate is listed for 1994-1998 trucks. Either way, more boost means more load on the stock HX35, so make the choice with the whole build in mind.
