2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Hitch Accessories

Hitch balls, reducer sleeves and B&W install hardware for the 2020-2022 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke. If trailer brakes act up on a 2021 or 2022 truck, start with the recalls: the integrated trailer brake controller has software recalls handled by a Ford dealer or an over-the-air update, and they should be done before you troubleshoot hardware.

Hitch accessories on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The small parts are where a tow setup gets dialed in. Ford equips the F-250 with the Trailer Tow Package, F-350 SRW diesels and dually trucks with a 3-inch receiver, a 2.5-inch reducer and a 5/8-inch high-capacity pin, while base F-250s get a 2.5-inch receiver. Reducer sleeves let one receiver accept a smaller shank, and the hitch ball has to match both your trailer coupler and the weight you pull. Tongue weight runs about 10% of the loaded trailer on a bumper hitch and 15% on a fifth-wheel or gooseneck, and it all comes out of the truck's payload. Every piece between the truck and the trailer needs a rating that covers the load, from the receiver on your 6.7L Powerstroke truck to the ball on top.

Trailer brake recalls to check first

A trailer brake complaint on these trucks can be software, not hardware. Recalls 22V193000 and 25V132000 cover the integrated trailer brake controller on 2021-2022 trucks, and 26V104000 covers 2021-2026 trucks whose trailer module may lose communication, which can take out trailer brakes and lights. These are dealer or over-the-air updates. Confirm they are done before you start testing wiring or swapping parts on the truck or trailer.

What we carry

From B&W Trailer Hitches: BW-THB hitch balls and BW-RE-SL reducer sleeves. From Wicked MFG: the BWFIX1 B&W hitch shock relocation kit for 2017-2022 Powerstroke trucks fitted with a B&W hitch. Need the hitch or ball mount itself? See all hitches.

Fitment notes

Check your receiver size before ordering a reducer sleeve, and check the rating stamped on every piece. A hitch ball's diameter has to match the trailer coupler, its shank has to match the hole in your ball mount, and its rating has to cover the trailer. The BWFIX1 is listed for 2017-2022 Powerstroke trucks, so confirm your model year. Verify by VIN, or use the fitment checker on each product page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a reducer sleeve on a 2020-2022 F-350?

Only if your shank does not match the receiver. F-350 SRW diesels and dually trucks have a 3-inch receiver, and Ford includes a 2.5-inch reducer. A reducer sleeve lets you run a smaller shank in a larger receiver opening.

How do I estimate tongue weight for my trailer?

Ford's towing guide uses about 10% of the loaded trailer weight for a conventional trailer and 15% for a fifth-wheel or gooseneck. That weight is subtracted from the truck's payload, so add it to the people and cargo already in the truck.

My trailer brakes and lights drop out. Should I replace the connector?

Not before you check recalls. 2021-2022 trucks are covered by trailer brake controller recalls 22V193000 and 25V132000, and 26V104000 covers 2021-2026 trucks where the trailer module can lose communication. Have a dealer confirm those are done, then troubleshoot hardware.
