2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Exterior Parts

Exterior parts for the 2020-2022 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty with the 6.7L Powerstroke. These trucks carry an aluminum body on a fully boxed steel frame, held down by factory urethane body mount bushings. Those bushings are the exterior wear item to know: as they wear, body and bed gaps drift and the cab starts to clunk over bumps.

Exterior on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The fourth-generation Super Duty, built for 2017 through 2022, uses a 6000-series aluminum body on a fully boxed frame that is 95 percent high-strength steel, and it came in up to 350 lb lighter than the 2016 truck. For 2020, Ford widened the two-bar grille and integrated the headlamps, and added the Tremor off-road package with off-road running boards, extended axle vent tubes and the skid plates from FX4 models. Under the hood is the third-generation 6.7L Powerstroke with the 10R140 10-speed. The body bolts to the frame through urethane body mount bushings, and replacing those bushings is the common exterior repair on these trucks.

What fails and why

S&B says the factory urethane body mount bushings can wear out in as little as a couple of years, and age and road salt are the conditions tied to it. When they wear, the body lines shift. The signs are uneven body and bed gaps, clunks over bumps and cab movement you can feel. Several recalls also touch the exterior on these years. NHTSA 21V090000 covers 2020-2021 F-250 through F-550 trucks whose windshields may not have been properly bonded; wind noise or water leaks at the windshield edge can point to it, and dealers remove and reinstall the glass. NHTSA 22V250000 covers wiper arms that may break on 2020-2022 Super Duty trucks, with a follow-up, 26V204000, for 2021-2023. Rear and 360-degree camera recalls, including 22V644000 for fogging 360-degree camera lenses on 2017-2020 trucks, address blank, distorted or foggy images. Recall work goes through a Ford dealer, so run your VIN through a recall lookup before you buy parts for any of these.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

When body mounts wear, you can put the same urethane design back in or step up to silicone. Replacing urethane with urethane puts you back on the same clock. S&B builds its body mount kits with silicone bushings instead and says they will not degrade like the factory urethane. Its crew cab kit also includes the radiator core support mounts, so the front of the truck gets fresh mounts at the same time as the cab. For smaller exterior pieces the choice is about function, such as a flip-up license plate bracket that lets the plate swing up.

What we carry

For body mounts we carry the S&B 81-1010 Silicone Body Mount Kit for F-250 and F-350 crew cab trucks, which includes the radiator core support mounts. For the rear of the truck, Big Hitch Products makes the BHP4001 Flip Up License Plate Bracket. Exterior also has its own Accessories and Body Mounts sections for this truck, where you will find more Big Hitch Products bumper accessories and the S&B kit on its own.

Fitment notes

Body mount kits are cab-specific. Crew cab, SuperCab and regular cab trucks each need their own kit, and the S&B 81-1010 is the crew cab kit. Because the 2017-2022 body is aluminum, steel-body repair parts and fasteners from 2016 and earlier trucks do not apply; 2017-2022 trucks share sheet metal, and 2023 and newer is a new body. Bed-access steps in the bed sides and rear bumper arrived with the 2023 redesign, so 2023 bumper parts are not a match for these trucks. Verify by VIN or call us before you order.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know my body mounts are worn?

Uneven body and bed gaps, clunks over bumps and cab movement are the signs S&B points to. The factory urethane bushings can wear in a couple of years, and age and road salt are tied to it. If your truck shows those signs, have the mounts inspected on a lift.

Is there a windshield or wiper recall on my truck?

There may be. NHTSA 21V090000 covers windshield bonding on 2020-2021 F-250 through F-550 trucks, NHTSA 22V250000 covers wiper arms on 2020-2022 Super Duty trucks, and 26V204000 follows up on 2021-2023 trucks. Run your VIN with Ford or NHTSA to see if yours is included.

Does the S&B 81-1010 fit a SuperCab?

No. Body mount kits are cab-specific, and the 81-1010 is the crew cab kit. SuperCab and regular cab trucks need a kit built for that cab.

Will exterior parts from a 2016 or a 2023 Super Duty fit my 2021?

Generally no. The 2017-2022 body is aluminum, so steel-body parts and fasteners from 2016 and earlier do not apply, and the 2023 truck is a new body. Stick with parts listed for 2017-2022 or for your exact year.

Why silicone body mounts instead of urethane?

S&B uses silicone bushings in its body mounts and says they will not degrade the way the factory urethane can. That is the reason to step up from a like-for-like replacement once the originals are worn.
