Call or Text (352) 722-5295Up-pipes on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The 6.7L uses reverse-flow heads, so exhaust leaves each head toward the valley, where the single turbo sits between the banks. A short manifold collects each bank, and an up-pipe carries that exhaust from the manifold up into the turbine inlet. The joint between the manifold and the up-pipe is sealed with a gasket. 2020 brought the third-generation 6.7L to these trucks, and the up-pipes here are listed from 2020 on.
What fails and why
Up-pipe leaks read like manifold leaks: soot and slow spool. Manifold leaks and cracks on the 6.7L come from thermal cycling, thin castings and weak hardware, mostly on high-mileage trucks and trucks that tow heavy, and they show as a cold-start tick that quiets as the engine warms, soot trails at the flanges, slower spool and a burnt smell. Because the symptoms overlap, plan on inspecting the manifolds, the up-pipes and the gaskets between them in one visit. Exhaust leaks are also one known cause of DEF/SCR/NOx faults on this engine, with codes like P20EE and P207F.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
For a straight repair, replace the leaking side and the gasket. SPE Motorsport sells driver's-side and passenger-side up-pipes separately and as a bundle, so you can fix one side or do both. PPE offers high-flow up-pipes listed for 2020-2026. Whichever you choose, the turbo, downpipe and aftertreatment stay as they are. On 2020-2022 trucks, hot-side parts are standard-output only; the 2023 and newer High-Output engine has a different turbo and stainless manifolds.
What we carry
- SPE Motorsport S100248 driver's-side up-pipe, S100249 passenger-side up-pipe and S100319 up-pipe bundle, each listed for 2020-2025
- PPE 316119520 high-flow up-pipes, listed for 2020-2026
- Mahle F32585 exhaust manifold-to-up-pipe gasket, listed for 2011-2026
Fitment notes
The up-pipes on this page start at 2020, so they are not listed for 2017-2019 trucks. The Mahle gasket covers 2011-2026. Every 2020-2022 F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickup with the 6.7L has the standard-output engine, so parts built for the 2023 and newer High-Output are a different fitment. If you are replacing one side, confirm driver's or passenger's before you order. When in doubt, verify by VIN, and find the rest of the hot side in our exhaust section.
Frequently asked questions
How do I tell an up-pipe leak from a manifold leak?
By symptoms alone, usually not. Up-pipe leaks read like manifold leaks, with soot and slow spool, which is why the two are serviced together. Inspect the manifolds, up-pipes and gaskets while you have access.
Do I have to replace both up-pipes?
Not necessarily. SPE sells the S100248 driver's side and S100249 passenger side separately, plus the S100319 bundle if you want both. Since the up-pipes are serviced with the manifolds, look at both sides while the truck is apart before you decide.
Should I replace the up-pipe gasket?
When you open the manifold-to-up-pipe joint, have a new gasket on hand rather than reusing the old one. The Mahle F32585 is listed for 2011-2026 6.7L trucks, so it covers every 2020-2022 model year.
Will these up-pipes fit a 2023 High-Output?
Do not assume it. The 2023 and newer High-Output engine uses a different turbo and stainless manifolds, and 2020-2022 up-pipe parts are standard-output only. Check the listing for your year and engine output.
