2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke ECM Tuning

This is the ECM side of custom tuning for 2017-2019 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke. Ford calls the engine computer the PCM, and custom tuning means rewriting its calibration. Know this before you flash: any PCM reprogram resets the transmission's adaptive shift strategy, so expect firm shifts for several days afterward.

The ECM on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

On this engine the PCM runs the show. It controls rail pressure from the Bosch CP4.2, up to five injection events per cylinder through the piezo injectors, the vanes on the Garrett variable-geometry turbo, and the active DPF regeneration that pushes exhaust temperature past 1,000F. Pickups and chassis cabs carry different calibrations: 440 hp and 925 lb-ft on a 2017 pickup, 450 hp and 935 lb-ft on a 2018-2019 pickup, and 330 hp and 750 lb-ft on a chassis cab. No CARB EO custom PCM calibration for these years turned up in the sources behind this page, so verify any custom file against your state's rules and keep every emissions system working.

What we carry

For the cab side of a custom setup, this collection has the Calibrated Power Solutions DSP switch bracket. It mounts a tune-position switch without cutting or drilling, and Calibrated Power lists it for every 6.7L Powerstroke from 2011 through 2022. That means it fits your 2017-2019 truck now and moves over if you trade into a 2020-2022. A bracket only earns its keep if your calibration has selectable positions, so confirm that first.

Fitment notes

The bracket spans 2011-2022, but calibrations do not. The 2020 engine changed pistons, compression, fuel pressure and the transmission, so PCM files are split 2017-2019 and 2020-2022. Confirm pickup or chassis cab, verify by VIN, and see the tuners page and the Powerstroke hub for the rest of the lineup.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my truck shift hard after a PCM flash?

Any PCM reprogram resets the adaptive transmission strategy, even a Ford dealer update such as TSB 18-2278. The 6R140 relearns over several days, and shifts feel firmer until it does.

Is the PCM the same thing as the ECM on my Super Duty?

For tuning purposes, yes. Ford calls it the PCM, for powertrain control module, because it handles engine control and the transmission's adaptive strategy. Parts catalogs and tuning companies often say ECM for the same computer.
