2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Pitman Arms

This page carries pitman arms for the 2017-2019 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty 4x4 with the 6.7L Powerstroke, aimed at lifted trucks. On this platform, lifts of 4 inches and up include steering or drag-link correction, and a drop pitman arm is one way to get it. A stock-height truck keeps its factory arm.

The pitman arm on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Every 2017-2019 Super Duty steers through a hydraulic power-assisted recirculating-ball gear. The gear turns the pitman arm, and the pitman arm moves the drag link that steers the front wheels. On a 4x4 those wheels ride on the solid Monobeam front axle, which moves with the suspension while the steering gear stays on the frame. Lift the truck and you change the distance between the two, which is why lifts of 4 inches and up on this truck include steering or drag-link correction. For other systems on this engine, start at our Powerstroke hub.

What fails and why

The pitman arm is not the part tied to this generation's steering complaint. The wobble owners report after a highway bump on 2017-2019 trucks centers on the steering linkage damper, which Ford redesigned under program 20N04. Owners also report the wobble returning when front-end wear or caster is the real cause. So if your truck shakes, look at the damper, the front end and the alignment before you blame the arm. A drop pitman arm is a geometry part for lifted trucks, not a wobble cure.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

On a stock-height truck, the factory pitman arm is the right part. A drop arm only makes sense once the front is lifted, and it belongs with the lift as part of the steering correction. Lifted trucks often get a dual steering stabilizer and an alignment in the same visit, since those are the fixes owners report most for wobble on these trucks.

What we carry

This collection holds the BDS Suspension 5 inch drop pitman arm, listed for 2005-2025 6.4L and 6.7L Powerstroke 4WD trucks, a range that takes in the 2017-2019 Super Duty. If you are lifting the truck, BDS dual stabilizer kits sized by lift height are in the steering stabilizer section for this truck.

Fitment notes

This arm is a 4WD part. The 4x2 F-250 and F-350 use Twin-I-Beam front suspension, so it does not apply there. Match the drop to your lift and follow the lift maker's instructions for the correction it calls for. Plan on an alignment after the install. F-450 owners should confirm fitment with us before ordering. When in doubt, verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Does my 2017-2019 F-250 need a drop pitman arm?

Only if it is a 4x4 lifted 4 inches or more. Lifts in that range on this platform include steering or drag-link correction, and a drop pitman arm is one way to provide it. A stock-height truck keeps the factory arm.

Will a drop pitman arm cure death wobble?

Not on its own. The 2017-2019 wobble centers on the steering linkage damper, which Ford redesigned under program 20N04, and owners report it coming back when front-end wear or caster is the cause. A drop arm corrects steering geometry on a lifted truck; it is not a wobble repair.

Will this pitman arm fit a 2WD Super Duty?

No. The BDS arm is listed for 4WD trucks only. The 4x2 F-250 and F-350 use a Twin-I-Beam front end, which is a different front suspension from the 4x4 solid axle.
