Call or Text (352) 722-5295Up-pipes on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The 6.7L Powerstroke uses reverse-flow heads, so the exhaust ports face into the valley between the banks. Cast manifolds sit there under the turbo, and short up-pipes carry exhaust from each manifold to the turbo. Pickups run a Garrett GT3788V variable-geometry turbo, and 2017-2019 chassis cabs run a ball-bearing Garrett GT3582V. Because the whole hot side sits between the banks, the up-pipes are short runs.
What fails and why
The up-pipes themselves have no documented failure pattern on 2017-2019 trucks, which sets them apart from the 6.0L and 6.4L Power Strokes. The part that does give trouble next door is the exhaust manifold. Factory manifolds on 2015-2019 pickups and 2017-2019 cab-chassis trucks can crack from heat cycling, and the signs are an exhaust leak tick at idle, soot at the flanges and broken studs. When the manifolds come out, the up-pipe joints come apart too, and replacement manifold kits use longer studs and spacers that the up-pipes have to line up with.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If you're just resealing, MAHLE's F32585 exhaust manifold to up-pipe gasket is listed for 2011-2026 6.7L engines. If one pipe needs replacing, SPE Motorsport's S100250 is a driver's side up-pipe listed for 2015-2019. For a full pair, Pacific Performance Engineering's 316119515 high-flow up-pipes are listed for 2015-2019 pickups and 2017-2019 cab and chassis trucks. Doing the up-pipes during a manifold job means the hot side comes apart once instead of twice.
What we carry
Pacific Performance Engineering supplies the high-flow up-pipe pair, SPE Motorsport supplies a driver's side up-pipe, and Mahle supplies the manifold-to-up-pipe gasket. Manifolds, downpipes and DPF-back systems are in the exhaust category.
Fitment notes
Year ranges matter. The PPE and SPE pipes start at 2015, the year Ford moved pickups from the GT32 dual-compressor turbo to the GT3788V, so check that an up-pipe is listed for 2015-up before you order. The PPE set lists 2017-2019 cab and chassis coverage, but chassis cabs route their exhaust differently and need cab-chassis-specific parts, so confirm the title covers your truck. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Do 6.7L up-pipes fail like the 6.0L and 6.4L?
Not on 2017-2019 trucks. There's no documented up-pipe failure pattern on this engine, unlike the 6.0L and 6.4L. The documented hot-side problem on this platform is the exhaust manifold, which can crack from heat cycling and break studs.
When should I replace the up-pipes?
The natural time is during a manifold job. The up-pipes join the manifolds to the turbo, and replacement manifold kits use longer studs and spacers, so the pieces need to line up. If a pipe is damaged or you want the high-flow pair, the PPE and SPE options here are listed for 2015-2019 trucks.
What gasket goes between the manifold and up-pipe?
MAHLE's F32585 exhaust manifold to up-pipe gasket, listed for 2011-2026 6.7L engines. Plan on a fresh one any time the up-pipe comes off rather than reusing the old gasket.
Do these up-pipes fit a chassis cab?
The PPE 316119515 set lists 2017-2019 cab and chassis coverage. Chassis cabs use a GT3582V turbo and route their exhaust differently from pickups, so check each title or call us with your VIN.
