2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Transmission Pans

Transmission pans, a pan gasket and a drain plug for the 6R140 TorqShift in the 2015-2016 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke. Every filter service calls for a fresh pan gasket, and trucks that tow belong on the 50,000-mile severe interval, not the 150,000-mile normal one.

The 6R140 pan on the 2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The TorqShift 6R140 behind every 2015-2016 6.7L Powerstroke holds 17.4 to 18.5 quarts. Service calls for the Motorcraft FT-187 filter and Ford pan gasket BC3Z-7A191-B, at 150,000 miles on the normal schedule or 50,000 miles on the severe schedule. If you tow, use the severe one. The transmission cooler on these trucks sits on the secondary cooling loop, separate from the engine's primary loop.

Stock pan vs. aftermarket

The aftermarket pans here are cast aluminum or deep-sump designs. Deep pans are built to add fluid capacity over stock; check each product page for the added capacity and the hardware that comes with it. If you only need to drop the pan for a filter service, the gasket is the part to have on the bench.

Fitment notes

Every pan here lists 2011-2019 6.7L fitment for the 6R140, which covers 2015-2016. Sources disagree on fluid: the original 6R140 documentation says MERCON LV, while a current maintenance schedule lists MERCON ULV, so confirm against your owner's manual. Verify by VIN when in doubt.

Frequently asked questions

What fluid does the 2015-2016 6R140 take, and how much?

The original 6R140 spec is MERCON LV, though a current maintenance schedule lists MERCON ULV; check your owner's manual for your build. Stock capacity is 17.4 to 18.5 quarts, and a deep pan adds to that, so check the product page for the added capacity.

How often should I service the transmission?

The normal interval is 150,000 miles and the severe interval is 50,000 miles. Trucks that tow should follow the severe schedule, with a new FT-187 filter and pan gasket each time.

Does the ATS drain plug fit the other pans on this page?

It is listed to fit ATS pans and differential covers. It is not listed for the other brands' pans here, so check the product page before you count on it.
