Call or Text (352) 722-5295The 6R140 pan on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
Every 6.7L Powerstroke from 2011 through 2019 runs the 6R140 TorqShift six-speed, which holds about 17.4 to 18.5 quarts and uses a Motorcraft FT-187 filter. Normal operating temperature is 195-230 F. Ford put the same pan on gas and diesel versions, and it was built for cost rather than cooling. A deep pan adds fluid capacity. That matters on 2011-2014 trucks, where low coolant in the secondary loop starves the transmission cooler and the transmission can run hot.
What we carry
Deep pans come from PPE (heavy-duty cast aluminum), SPE Motorsport and BD Diesel (deep sump). Mishimoto makes a cast aluminum 6R140 pan, and Mag-Hytec builds its F6R140 pan for the same transmission. If you are servicing the factory pan, the Mahle W32602 6R140 pan gasket is here. ATS Diesel Performance offers a replacement drain plug that fits ATS pans and differential covers.
Fitment notes
The pans here are listed for 2011-2019 6R140 trucks. The 10R140 ten-speed that arrived for 2020 shares nothing with the 6R140. A deep pan holds more fluid than stock, so follow the pan maker's fill instructions, and confirm the fluid spec on the dipstick or fill location or in your owner's manual before you refill. Verify fitment by VIN with the fitment checker.
Frequently asked questions
Why put a deep pan on a 2011-2014 6.7L Powerstroke?
The factory pan was designed for cost, not cooling, and 2011-2014 trucks cool the transmission on the low-temp secondary loop. A deep pan adds fluid capacity. Do the swap alongside a fluid and FT-187 filter change.
What fluid goes in after I install a new pan?
Confirm the spec on the dipstick or fill location, or in your owner's manual, and use exactly what it calls for. Plan on more than the factory 17.4-18.5 quart capacity, since a deep pan holds more.
Will a 6R140 pan fit a 2020 or newer Super Duty?
No. Trucks from 2020 on use the 10R140 ten-speed, which shares nothing with the 6R140. The pans here are for 2011-2019 6.7L trucks.
