Call or Text (352) 722-5295The oil pan on the 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Powerstroke
The 6.4L is a cast-iron V8 with a bed plate, the same basic architecture as the 6.0L, and its oil system holds 15.0 quarts with the filter. Every one of those quarts drains through the pan plug. Several pan-area parts are shared between the two engines and listed for 2003-2010 trucks, while the MAHLE OS32352 pan gasket is listed for the 2008-2010 6.4L only. Read the year and engine range on every title before you order.
Reading what drains out
Every oil change is a free inspection. An oil level that keeps climbing between changes means fuel is getting in, from DPF regeneration or a leaking piezo injector body, and the oil should be changed right away when it passes max. Milky oil means coolant is in the crankcase. On the 6.4L, one known cause is the front cover eroding from cavitation behind the water pump on trucks run low on coolant, which Fleet Service NW calls uncommon. A magnetic drain plug gives you one more look: ferrous wear particles collect on the magnet where you can see them.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If the pan itself is damaged, the Dorman 264-046 is a replacement oil pan listed for 2003-2010 6.0L and 6.4L trucks. If the pan is fine but weeping, the fix is a seal, and MAHLE sells them separately: a side-rail gasket, a lower pan gasket, and a 6.4L-specific pan gasket. Read each listing's description to match the seal to where your leak is. With the pan off, fresh fasteners make sense; the XDP XD505 kit replaces the pan bolts with black-phosphate hardware. For the drain, a magnetic plug is the easy upgrade over a plain one.

Fitment notes
The 6.4L ran in 2008-2010 F-250 and F-350 pickups, the F-450 pickup and the F-450/F-550 chassis cabs. Its long block, heads, injectors and pump do not interchange with the 6.0L or the 6.7L, so trust each pan-area part's own title and not a 6.0L parts list. Verify by VIN with the fitment checker, and see all of our Powerstroke parts for the rest of the engine.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need new gaskets if I drop the oil pan on my 6.4L?
Plan on it. MAHLE lists a 6.4L pan gasket plus separate side-rail and lower gaskets. Check which seals your job disturbs before ordering, and install fresh ones while the pan is off.
Will the Mishimoto magnetic drain plug fit my 2008-2010 Super Duty?
The MMODP-14125B is listed for 1994-2010 7.3L, 6.0L and 6.4L Powerstroke engines, which covers the 2008-2010 trucks. Confirm with the fitment checker on the product page before you order.
What does it mean if the oil I drain from my 6.4L looks milky?
Coolant is in the crankcase. One known source on this engine is front-cover erosion from cavitation behind the water pump on trucks that were run low on coolant, though Fleet Service NW calls it uncommon. Get it diagnosed before you button up a new pan or gasket.
