2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke Transmission Rebuild Parts

Coolers, rebuild components and electrical parts for the 5R110W TorqShift in 2003-2007 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks with the 6.0L Powerstroke. Before you replace a solenoid or a sensor, clean and test the body and engine grounds; many transmission faults on these trucks turn out to be electrical, not mechanical.

TorqShift hard parts for the 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke

The 5R110W behind the 6.0L Powerstroke is a 1,000 lb-ft-rated five-speed that replaced the 4R100 in 2003. Its weak spots tend to be on the control side. On high-mileage units, a worn TCC control valve causes lockup slip and cycling with P0741 or P1783, and the valve changed for 2005, so the replacement has to match your year. Electrical faults are the other big one: one documented 2007 F-350 had body grounds over 20 ohms that sent current through the transmission pump until electrolysis destroyed it.

Coolers

Mishimoto offers both direct-fit and universal options. The MMTC-F2D-03SL transmission cooler is listed for the 2003-2007 6.0L, and its radiator and transmission cooler bundles are split by year: MMB-F2D-006 for 2003-2004 and MMB-F2D-008 for 2005-2007. Mishimoto also offers universal fluid coolers, including the MMTC-TF series, a heavy-duty cooler with its own fan and a combination transmission and power steering cooler. BD Diesel adds Xtruded auxiliary coolers, including a double-stacked version, an auxiliary cooler listed across several diesel platforms and a universal transmission cooler electric fan.

Rebuild components

If your TorqShift is coming apart, BD's Stage 1 and Stage 4 Build-It kits are listed separately for 2003-2004 and 2005-2007 trucks, along with a BD billet input shaft listed for 1999-2010. ATS Diesel Performance offers a 5R110 master rebuild kit, a billet intermediate shaft for 2003-2010 6.0L and 6.4L trucks, and a billet input shaft that covers E4OD, 4R100 and 5R110 transmissions. The ATS 4R100 intermediate assembly is listed for 1999-2003 7.3L trucks, not the 6.0L.

Sensors, solenoids and the rest

The Alliant Power AP63497 transmission fluid temperature sensor is listed for 2003-2014 6.0L, 6.4L and 6.7L trucks. XDP's XD306 5R110 modified direct clutch solenoid covers 2003-2010 6.0L and 6.4L trucks. You'll also find a MAHLE B33590 transfer case gasket and BD's exhaust brake and tap shifter for 2003-2007 trucks.

Fitment notes

Match the year split. Build-It kits and Mishimoto bundles are listed separately for 2003-2004 and 2005-2007 trucks, and the TCC control valve changed for 2005 as well. Parts listed through 2010 cover the 6.4L too, but 2008-and-later units carry their own calibration and service parts, so stay inside the year range on each listing. Early 2003 Super Dutys were still 7.3L trucks; verify by VIN before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy a 6.0L-specific cooler or a universal one?

If you want a direct-fit part, start with Mishimoto's MMTC-F2D-03SL, listed for the 2003-2007 6.0L, or one of the radiator and transmission cooler bundles for your year range. Universal coolers from Mishimoto and BD give you more sizing choices, but you'll work out the mounting location and line routing yourself.

Do I need the 2003-2004 or the 2005-2007 Build-It kit?

Order the kit listed for your model year. BD splits its Stage 1 and Stage 4 kits between 2003-2004 and 2005-2007, and the TCC control valve inside the TorqShift also changed for 2005, with the early valve never to be reused. Your VIN settles which side of the split you're on.

Will a new solenoid fix my shifting problem?

Maybe, but check the grounds first. Many transmission faults on these trucks are electrical, so clean and test the body and engine grounds before replacing XDP's direct clutch solenoid or any other part. If the fault is still there with good grounds, replace the part the diagnosis points to.
